Cribbs’ agent has ‘positive exchanges’ with Browns
Posted: February 11th, 2010 | Adam Rank | Tags: Cleveland Browns, Joshua Cribbs

The agent for Browns Pro Bowl receiver-returner Joshua Cribbs said he’s having ‘positive exchanges’ with the Browns about a new contract for his client. Still, there’s no timetable for a new deal.

“This is the most positive dialogue we’ve had since we’ve been doing this over the past three years with the Browns,” agent J.R. Rickert told the Cleveland Plain Dealer on Thursday. “We’re exchanging numbers and there’s no telling what the timetable will be, but when we can bridge all of the existing gaps, we’ll have this done.”

Cribbs initially rejected the Browns’ $1.4 million offer on Jan. 6 and said he wouldn’t play in Cleveland next season. But this is the second time in just over a month that Rickert has said he has held positive conversations with the team.

Cribbs was selected to his second Pro Bowl following the 2009 season, when he became one of the most feared return men in NFL history. Cribbs took three kickoffs for touchdowns and became the NFL’s career leader in the category with eight. Cribbs also set career highs in receptions (20) and rushing attempts (55) as he became a bigger part of the Browns’ offense.

Jaguars release veterans WR Torry Holt, DT Rob Meier and OT Tra Thomas. Each player has more than 10 years of experience.

Cribbs would also be to expensive.

OL and DB in the draft for me, thank you very much.

I would like to have Cribbs. It takes care of kick returner and adding another wr. Then Jerry could sleep like a baby after not taking a wr in the draft.

Ogletree > Cribbs at WR

Now at returner, i'd love to put Cribbs back there, but for over 2m a season idk.

Its sad to see the young smoke crack so young.

Ogletree is more overrated than Folk was at this time lst year. We will have to see how he fares in comparison to Burnett. Ogletree looks to actually be a player so I doubt it will reach that status.

While for two years Folk was one of the more consistent kickers in the league then he had offseason surgery on his hip. How is he overrated when for two years he was money even in crunch time. So how was he over rated because he struggled and had a bad year. I am confused here

Because he is a kicker. One that couldn't kickoff to boot.
