He is so terrible.

I'm surprised you don't like him. Why?

He reminds me a little of Don Meredith. At least his wit does.

I loved that line........"to all the eagle fans, that's what you call a running play":D

The 3-4 is cool when you have good pass rush from one side, but when you got it coming from both sides then it’s a whole other thing

This really is the key to this defense.

Cris Collinsworth said during the Eagles/Cowboys Playoff Game that people he talked to around the league said that Anthony Spencer seems almost unblockable at times.

Kind of reminds me of what people were saying about Justin Tuck in 2007.

You remember during the Playoff Game where he was critiquing the Eagles Passing play design.

He was saying that the way the Eagles were drawing up some of their Passing Plays ensured that at least 2-3 Cowboys would be around the receiver.

Why shouldn’t we look at this as this as a Superbowl caliber team?

Well, when you’ve been through as much grief as the Cowboys have the last 13 years, you can always be leary. Just like down the stretch everyone was waiting for Romo to have a bad game and for the other shoe to drop. But I think this is a good team for 3 reasons … #1 Tony Romo still makes the great plays and has removed the dumb plays. Every QB is allowed to make a bad throw or bad read every once in a while, but Tony really hasn’t even been doing that. #2 The emergence of Jenkins and Spencer gives them 3 or 4 playmakers on their defense. The 3-4 is cool when you have good pass rush from one side, but when you got it coming from both sides then it’s a whole other thing . #3, you have Miles Austin emerging as a big time playmaker. And the thing about Miles Austin is you can’t take him away, because he runs every route … outside, inside, slants, gos. He can take any route for a TD, so you can’t just take away what he does best.

Also Ratliff is one of the only nosetackles in the NFL that provides middle pressure, and QBs hate pressure in their face. There was a sack last week where at the end of the play Ware, Ratliff and Spencer were all laying on him … that’s the epitome of this defense.

All this and.........Felix Jones!

To be a SB team, you really need it all. Can't have weaknesses and need a few real strengths.

I think the Colts, Chargers and Cowboys best fit that description. What I think/hope sets us apart is Jones.
He a good sized RB who can be the focal point of the running game. I think he has the strength and quickness to get it done.
But it's that rediculous burst, speed and open field running ability that makes the difference.

Chris Collinsworth joins the list of NFL experts who say that previous years do not matter in evaluating current teams. How long before the DFW media finally gets that and the fans follow suit?

Collinsworth hit it right on the button. Minnesota has a much more balanced attack than Philly, but still have the speed at receiver to hit the long bomb. We will have to be on our "A" game defensively to stop them, but I still think we win. Maybe it's because I believe.

I'd hope there aren't too many fans arguing that previous years do matter.

However, you have to admit that after the SD and NY losses, there was nothing to say to describe the loss besides, "It's December"

It's like curses. You KNOW they aren't real and they dont impact anything, but still...

I wont wear my Barber jersey unless it's on a victory Monday.

Collinsworth has become, easily, my favorite analyst of games over the last few years. The guy doesn't seem to grind any axes, gives you some well thought out opinions, and really knows his stuff.

I enjoy listening to him.

I've always hated the sound of Chris' voice. That said, I enjoy listening to him for the content and that content is good enough to get past the voice. I was disappointed when he was announced as Madden's successor, but I was wrong. He's done a great job.

The main reason I thoroughly enjoyed watching The Cotton Bowl this year was that Moose Johnston and Pat Summerall were calling the game. Moose had to carry Pat most of the game, but Pat's voice is just awesome.

Chester Taylor is going to play a big role come Sunday. Rat is going to need to get quick pressure up the middle to disrupt some of the flares and quick slants over the middle.

Yup, backs and TE's all day long. I can't beleive that we couldn't have brought someone in at this point of the season to take snaps away from the guy. He had some head's up play last week but for a cover specialist he is a huge liability IMO, apparently the opposing OC's agree.

The difference between consecutive Eagles' game coverage by Mr. "I want to prove I'm objective by pratically rooting for the other team" and his uncomfortably close companion and a knowledgeable and objective announcer like Chris couldn't have been more pronounced.

New Orleans had these same traits. In fact you could argue that the were actually better at spreading defeses out than Minny. The Saints ended the season with a better passing attack, better rushing attack, and better scoring offense than the Vikes.

Now, Dallas can't hang their hat on New Orleans. That's long gone. What they can hang their hat on is the fact that they've proven, defensively, that they can hang with anyone in the league. You're right, Dallas will have to bring it's "A" game. I take comfort in the fact that they've been bringing an "A" game for well over a month, now. This defense is no fluke.

I like Colinsworth, but I disagree with him. I don't know when Philly supposedly became this team that never throws to their backs and TEs. Last time I looked Brent Celek caught 76 passes for almost a thousand yards ..... a hell of a lot more passes and yards than Visanthe Shiancoe. And Bryant Westbrook has been the NFL's premiere receiving back of the decade under Andy Reid.

I'll grant you the Vikings have a power running aspect that Philly doesn't have, but to suggest that Vikings are better at spreading the ball around while Philly only one dimensionally throws to their WR's is ridiculous. If anyone over-depends on one receiver, it's Favre on Sydney Rice.

Question from Kevin Kiley - "You've got 90 yards to go the game is tied do you take Romo or Favre to lead your team?"

Collinsworth: The way Romo's playing I take Romo.

Michael Irvin: THAT'S A SMART MAN.

Werder: I'd take Favre because of his experience, we've seen him do it recently in Chicago to tie the game.

Then Irvin lit Ed up, lol.

I said this before, and this stacks up to make me look like a genuise-lol! I've had this feeling for a while now, Carp will get a pic-6 in the playoffs.

Collinsworth has always been one of my favorite football commentators, booth or studio. Aikman isn't as good a color man as CC, but I don't have the problems with him that others seem to. I like him.

As far as the emergence of the Dallas D in the latter part of the season, I agree that Spencer and Jenkins stepping up has been huge. But I think a significant part of Dallas' defensive success can be attributed to the addition of Sensabaugh. His coverage skills at the safety position have allowed Wade to call plays the way he wants.

If OCs are basing their game plans on our nickel LB, it's no wonder their offenses look so bad.

I heard that too. Man they are really dogging on Werder and his man crush with Favre. Yesterday on GAC they did the same thing. I find it hilarious.

Good points. Dallas didn't have to respect the Eagles run. I too think they will spread it out and have 3-5 step drops for Favre. Play up on the WR's and cover Shanko, or however you spell his name. The good news is that I htink we can cover man with our corners on their WR's.
