is definitely the steal of the first round.

we can look back in hindsight all we want and say Dallas should have taken him over Carp. however, I for one do not fault Dallas for passing on him. he was injured in college and was returning from a major injury. that isnt the kind of risk you want to take with your 1st rounder.

because he was able to return from his injury and become a ballhawking CB....he has to be considered the steal of the 1st round. SD took a huge risk, but also reaped huge rewards.

Draft gambles are boom or bust. When you have an injured player, its even more of a gamble. How would the Chargers look if both McNeil and Cromartie had not panned out?

Yep, when they made that pick a lot of the NFL Experts were shocked because he really didn't play that much in College and had a serious injury.

Because then it makes it so much fun, 3-4 years later, when loads of people can come onto forums like these and post endless "This is what we could have had" or "This is what we missed" threads like pop up here all the time.

I'm glad to see one like this pop up that isn't about "Man look how stupid we were for not taking this guy instead of that one".
