"You can't tell much from preseason videos. Blah blah blah."

That's right. You can't tell a whole lot. But you can glean a little bit from them. Just like highlight videos: they don't tell the whole story. But they do give you some hints about potential.

That's all this thread is, before you go bellyaching about some Negative Nancy nonsense.

In the famous words of Rick James, "that was two weeks ago. I"m partying now."

At a glimpse, Dak Prescott does look improved, more relaxed, like he's more confident that he'll able to scan the field and have more confidence in his options. Brandin Cooks really helps this offense. Gallup having a year under his belt after his injury really helps this offense. I think a few other additions will also really help this offense.

Last year, I kept repeating that the team should play Joseph in the nickel or at safety. He reminds me a little bit of Orlando Scandrick, at nickel, and a little bit like Keith Davis at safety, but with a little more athleticism, quickness and pop to his game. I'm very happy to see them working him at other positions. With all the stuff in the offseason last year, this should be a fresh start for Joseph.I hope he's able to make the team, and make the best of it.

That said, I like the vast majority of players on this roster.

Does anyone notice anything different this year? There's not nearly as much negative publicity over players like. Antonio Calloway was arrested in the offseason, but he was cut, likely to send a message. There's just no more perpetual negative press about this player or that player. Instead, the Eagles picked up the problem-child in the draft. So, we'll see how that goes for them this year.

That said, I look around at this year's camp, at least in a few videos and I see almost all of these players want to be there. And their all attentive, positive, and seem to be bonding and helping each other. It's the little things that make a championship team. It comes down to details, chemistry, integrity, trust, all of that. But that's what I see with this team at a glimpse.

I would be thrilled if we win a championship. But even if we were to go 0-17 somehow I'm still going to enjoy the heck out of this season, knowing this is one of the best teams ever assembled by the Cowboys. Just look at that defense come onto the field. It's a scary offense now with Cooks, Gallup, and Pollard starting. It'll be an ever scarier defense compared to last year's, too, which is saying a lot.

I saw Joseph getting his ankles abused in coverage. But hopefully the change in culture makes him a better DB.

Joseph MIGHT work at nickel. Safety is a hell no. Too much thinking involved at safety. Not his strongest trait

Great post! The culture started to change when MM came in I believe. Like what I’m hearing out of the locker room since he’s arrived.

Gallup having a year under his belt after his injury really helps this offense.
That's the main thing. Full healthy and having confidence in his knee will make a HUGE difference.

CeeDee, Cooks and Gallup are an impressive trio.

When you say "Dak DOES look improved" ... improved compared to what? Are you comparing how he looks in the first week of TC this year, to the first week of TC last year? Though a very small sample, at least that's apples to apples.

You don't mean he looks improved (in non contact environment in shorts against friendly teammates) compared to how he looked against real other teams last year, do you? Because EVERY qb looks a lot better in TC than he does against real opposing teams that are trying to plant him into the ground.
