Packers Release Kicker Cundiff

Further evidence the Green Bay Packres are embracing a youth movement this season: Just one game into what was supposed to be a preseason-long battle, the team released the kicker on their roster who has the most NFL experience.

Billy Cundiff was cut after Thursday morning's practice. The Packers are casting their lot now with 23-year-old Dave Raynor.

Raynor made the only field goal in morning practice -- a 46-yard kick in the two-minute drill.

The Packers are going with Raynor based on his stronger leg. He attempted only one field goal last year with the Colts when he was their kickoff specialist.

Cundiff kicked most of the last four years with the Dallas Cowboys. He attempted and made the only field goal against the Chargers.

I don't wish ill-will on him, but he certainly turned me off with arrogance. Kickers have no room to be arrogant if they aren't very good.

From early reports Cundiff was kicking well in practice in GB. But for some reason when Sunday's roll around he's always got an apple in his throat.
