Curiosity Question

Ok, before I even mention it, I want you to hear me say that I KNOW that it is nit picky. In fact, I am fully aware that it really means nothing. But I still want to ask.

Why does Romo always play with his shirt tail out?
Is there an NFL rule that would require him to tuck it in? (Heck if they have rules about socks I would think rules address this?)

Before you EVEN begin with the "man we criticize Romo for everything" kind of responses, hear me say I'M NOT CRITICIZING HIM.

I'm just curious (and am a bit old school, I would like to see it tucked in), but is there a rule about this?

If not, why don't we see more QB's with the old shirt tail out?

If a tree falls in the woods, and there's no one around to hear it...............is the Pope still taking a crap? Is the bear still Catholic?

It falls out during the game. He doesn't start the game like that or else he would be fined. He is as active as any other QB with his legs too so defenders are grabbing him from behind on the run alot. Mike Vick had this jersey malfunction also. Probably the most mobile QB to ever play in the NFL.

Lets see, 1-3 thoughtful responses, that is a .333 average in baseball, not bad.

Yea, I imagine some of it is the mobility issue, but it seems to start pretty early and happens every week. It seems like his jersey isn't very long, almost like it is cut about the length where it would tuck in. I wonder if he just finds it easier to throw with it out? Less restrictive somehow?

Notice that the game isn't in progress http://i191.***BLOCKED***/albums/z96/nican_2007/tony_romo.jpg?t=1249362637

We used to have to start with the jersey tucked in, even back in High School. But once it came out during the game we were not required to tuck it back in and I never did. I found it difficult to reach behind my back with shoulder pads and rib flak jackets on and I sure wasn't going to let anyone else near my butt.

One other thing. If you look at the jerseys they wear at Camp, none of them are tucked in.

Sounds like you played some QB Hos. Notice in that picture I linked to that his jersey is out before the game (in warmups) and also seems to be cut short. Do you think its possible he just likes it out and feels it is less restrictive somehow in throwing the ball?

No, that's not possible. Notice, too, that the hat is on backwards.

Ah, I knew the hat comment would be coming soon. We need some originality around here.

Ok, but I do think it is more of a style/preference thing than a "it just happens in the game" thing.

Do a google image search. Search Aikman and Staubach and you will have to find something out of the ordinary to find their jersey out. Search Romo and almost every game picture has his jersey out. Roger was very active in the pocket too, but you still don't see it often, if at all. (I didn't see one)

Another possibility.... are the jerseys cut shorter now than they were in the 70's and 90's?

Again, I know this is totally random and meaningless, but just wondering.

seriously...who cares? :bang2:

Are you never curious about something that doesn't really matter? I've already said that in one sense I don't care at all. Just was wondering. Apparently you are a little curious about something you don't care about, on some level, because you have posted in this thread twice! ;) Seriously, it means nothing, I was just wondering.

I'm just wondering why you really care about why someone's jersey is untucked. but more importantly, why you really noticed...

Romo and Troy Palomanu should get together and start a fashion line......

I noticed because it is sloppy looking (in my opinion). Simple as that. And when a guy seems to ALWAYS have his uniform in a sloppy looking condition, then I wondered, "why"? And when I thought about our past QB's and the fact that they didn't, then I wondered if it had something to do either with uniform design or just a preference on the part of the player. And if it is a preference on the part of the player, then I wondered how he keeps from getting corrected by the NFL uniform police since I know they will discipline a player for almost anything uniform related.

Now, does that satisfy YOUR curiosity about why I noticed?

Jerseys are made custom for the players liking.

Are you the fashion police ?

lol... yep NFL fashion police undercover. :)

Nope, just a guy who eats all of one kind of food on his plate before he moves to the next. :)

But your point is what I thought might be the case. Romo probably has that jersey designed to be a little short so that it isn't tucked in and throwing seems easier to him.

Romo's jersey almost looks like a sweater to me sometiems - like there is elastic around the bottom that just kind of gives the illusion that it's tucked in.

Of course the important question in all of this is, who cares about srs yewniform bizness?

Here's a nice picture of his shirt tucked in. He is also morose. So it's like the perfect storm of appropriate QB attire.

I do the same thing with my food. lol.

Look at linemans jerseys, and kickers jerseys. Clearly there is not a standard jersey that every player has to have.

My guess is that is exactly what Romo does and basically who cares about the fine? Depends on how many times they will call him on it.
