I count 8 positions that urgently need to be addressed.

RB
WR3
LG
C
DE depth
DT depth
LB
CB

Realistically you can expect 2 rookies to contribute, at best 3. So that means 5 or 6 big signings coming up from the Jones’…in like 2 weeks and the average salary will be about $2M

Here's how the Cowboys look right now, with only the players currently under contract. Note that I moved Tyler Smith to left tackle under the assumption this is where he will play unless Dallas drafts a walk-in starter at that position.

QB: Dak Prescott-Cooper Rush-Trey Lance
RB: Malik Davis-Deuce Vaughn- Snoop Conner
FB: Hunter Luepke
WR: CeeDee Lamb-Jalen Brooks-Racey McMath
WR: Brandin Cooks-Martavis Bryant-David Durden
WR: (Michael Gallup-likely out)-Jalen Tolbert-KaVontae Turpin-Jalen Cropper
TE: Jake Ferguson-Luke Schoonmaker-Peyton Hendershot- Princeton Fant-John Stephens
LT: Tyler Smith-Asim Richards-Earl Bostick
LG: T.J. Bass
C: Brock Hoffman-Dakota Shepley
RG: Zack Martin-Josh Ball
RT: Terence Steele-Matt Waletzko

DE: Micah Parsons-Durrell Johnson
DT: Osa Odighizuwa-Chauncey Golston-Viliami Fehoku
DT: Mazi Smith-Carl Davis
DE: DeMarcus Lawrence- Sam Williams-Tyrus Wheat
LB: Damone Clark-Buddy Johnson
LB: DeMarvion Overshown-(Leighton Vander Esch-likely to retire)
CB: Trevon Diggs-Eric Scott
CB: DaRon Bland-Josh Butler
CB: Israel Mukuamu-Nahshon Wright
S: Malik Hooker-Markquese Bell-Sheldrick Redwine
S: Donovan Wilson- Juanyeh Thomas

K: Brandon Aubrey
P: Bryan Anger
LS: Trent Sieg

This is the year Jerry takes Dallas to the Super Bowl on a budget

Tyler isn’t a LT.

He struggled at LT.
He was a late 1st round rookie from a non power 5 conference that played at an above average level from day 1. Did he struggle at times? Yes, no doubt. But none of those struggles were due to lack of size, athleticism or strength. He needed technique adjustments and experience like every rookie.

Moving Tyler off of LT with no plan for the position other than 1 more injury plagued year of Tyron was 1 of the dumber moves this franchise has done in a while. Right up there with the complete fumbling of the entire Cooper situation.

With all that said…I won’t be surprised if Tyler does stay at LG and pick #24 is already written in stone as a LT.

If a LT is far and away the best player available, which is the likely scenario. Why wouldn't you draft a LT?

Assuming we don't sign any surefire starters in free agency (highly likely), and assuming we don't trade for any starters (pretty likely) or acquire more picks (likely), we will need to find four to five starters--LT, C, RB, LB, DT--from the draft. This is likely impossible and an obviously insane approach, considering we draft later in each round and also don't have a fourth rounder.

So the problem is we have more needs than we can possibly resolve. We have to prioritize these needs cause we can't solve 'em all, which also likely precludes us from upgrading at other very weak positions (WR, DE), regardless of the players that become available.

So what gives? What are the positions that we are OK with not solving in the draft? What are the needs that we are OK pushing to the side if the opportunity arises? Who are the players we are counting on to fill all these holes (Bass? Huff? Sam Williams? Overshown?). How will we get these guys if everyone and their mom knows that we absolutely need to fill these open roles?

How is the team not thinking about these questions?! Or trying to at least reduce these questions? This is the Allen Hurns offseason on crack

When did I say you shouldn’t?

I’m just saying you shouldn’t go into the draft NEEDING to fill a hole at a certain position…especially not 1 as important as LT. And even more so when you’re drafting at 24.

My prediction
-They bring back 1 of Gilmore or Lewis along with Rico
-About 7-10 days from now they’ll eventually sign a cheap LB and DT(or bring back Hankins)
-Draft OT-RB-OC in the 1st 3 rounds
-Look for players to get cut/old guys that haven’t signed in camp to fill CB, WR, RB, and DE as needed.

Highly likely. I wish the first three rounds weren't as prescripted and we were free to grab a falling player, like we did with Ceedee. Chances are, looking OT, C, RB in the first three will force us to take the best of one of those positions, rather than best player. That's how we ended up with Schoonmaker, Kelvin

Overall still a strong roster but there are holes at LB, RB, LG, C, and DT. Cowboys must take care of atleast 3 or 4 of these needs in free agency to provide some draft flexibility and ability to add depth without reaching. The good news is at many of these positions they had average players in those spots so its not like they need to replace 5 superstars and presumably can potentially still upgrade.
