As the season kicks off in 2 weeks I thought some might enjoy this bit of information.
Tony Romo will likely pass Danny White and Roger Staubach this year on the career passing yardage records and move into 2nd place behind Troy Aikman on that list. Tony is 1125 yards behind Danny and 1866 behind Roger.
If Tony comes anywhere near his normal TD production he will move into the top spot for TD passes in Cowboys History. He has 149 as of now and that is only 16 behind Troy Aikman for #1 overall in Cowboys History. As of right now he is 4 behind Roger and 6 behind Danny on the all time list.
A 30 TD season by Romo could put him near the top 50 all time.
By year's end he should trail only Aikman in attempts and completions in team History.
Jason Witten needs 55 receptions to move into the top spot all time in Cowboys History. He trails team leader Michael Irvin's 750 by 54 receptions. As most know he is also climbing the all time ranks. He is currently 38th all time, just 3 ahead of fast climbing Larry Fitzgerald. With a solid season Witten could be near the top 25 all time in receptions.
By now I hope everyone knows that DeMarcus Ware only needs a half sack to reach 100 for his already illustrious career. He is officially the Cowboys all time sacks leader with 99.5. However, sacks was not recorded as an official stat until 1982. This means that Bob Lilly, Ed "Too Tall" Jones, Randy White, and Harvey Martin all have fewer official sacks than their true number recorded.
The Dallas Cowboys unofficial all time sacks leader is "Beautiful" Harvey Martin at 114. Look for Ware to bring his record to the top of the list for real this year.
Ware is currently 29th on the all time list and only one behind our own ROH member Charles Haley on the all time list for 25th. Ware can move past a lot of people just ahead of him this year on the all time sacks list because many of them are bunched up below 110 career sacks. In fact, a 3 sack performance against the Giants would move Ware into the top 25.
For grins, let's say Ware reaches 20 sacks again. Assuming no one in front of him and still active stays ahead of him he would end up 15th all time by the end of this year.
Right now, the only active player who might stay slightly ahead of the pace Ware is setting is Jared Allen who has 5.5 more than Ware and seems capable of another good season.
Jared Allen is not quite 4 months older than Ware, but has played 1 more season, so holding Ware off for their careers seems highly unlikely. Can he catch Bruce Smith? 200 sacks is a huge total, but Bruce played 19 years to set that mark. Ware is almost halfway there in 7 seasons. If he strings together 3 more greats seasons like 4 of his last 5 years have produced he could make a serious run at the all time record if he plays 7 more years. But that is an IF of course.

This year could be the start of a new run on Lombardi's -like the 90's.
