* I suspect Crawford will get cut

Free Agency Space: 6-26m

We currently have about 20m in cap space but 4m will be wiped out signing draft picks and it's prudent to leave 5-10m to give us some flexibility to sign/trade for players to cover injuries. We could restructure Martin and Frederick to gain 15m but I'd be against any other restructures. That leaves us 6m-26m to spend in FA depending on how aggressive we are.

Ranking Needs:
#1 CB1 - Ideally Awuzie is no.2, Lewis slot and Brown NB. So we need a no.1.
#2 DE - We need someone to at the least, rotate with Gregory and help us get 10 sacks at RDE
#3 SWR - We need to get 500 yards from a slot WR.
#5 TE2 - Ideally we get a serviceable receiver to cover Jarwin, that can block and play ST
#6 DT - Woods would ideally be 3rd meaning a starting 1T
#7 WR4 - We need more WR depth
#8 QB - We could use another one to develop

Free Agency Options:
DT: Dontari Poe, Damon Harrison, Zach Kerr
DE: Everson Griffen, Clay Matthews, Ziggy Ansah, Justin Houston
CB: Logan Ryan, Jimmy Smith
TE: Nick Vannett

I feel WAY better about flexibility in the draft after signing McCoy and Dix. The WR need will be easy with this class being loaded.

Would love to target CB and DL early and often...which is what I feel like I say every year.

Thats how I feel. Anything that’s not a DT, DE or CB in the first three rounds feels a waste so you’d want to get good value.

I really, really hope we can get Griffen. Outside of all universe Young, this is one of the worst DE classes I can remember and it’s a huge need for us.

If we could get him and someone to develop I’d be happy.

Nice work ranking the needs.

Probably worth mentioning that we need a punter, and I personally would like to bring in a young kicker and see him win the job.

If they roll w Forbath they will be looking for a K again in week six.

Forbath didn't miss a single FG or EP last season with the Cowboys. Even with compitition it's his job to lose.

I agree. Happy to seek one out as a UDFA or in free agency but don't think we should use a draft pick on one.

Is Antoine Woods re-signed? I don't think they have re-signed him yet. He is a restricted free agent but they still have to sign him or he becomes a free agent, right? I wonder why they have not made an offer to him yet?

I notice WR Devin Smith is not listed- he certainly looked promising early last season.

Id feel better if they added a DE or even WR at this point.

There is still too many needs that can be realistically solved just in the draft.

Haven't signed Woods, haven't signed Dak, tagged him but he has to sign. And if they both play hardball and either go right up to July 15 deadline or play on the Tag it's a huge Fail. We could use that extra 15 - 20 million now, not in July. ( If he signs long term deal 4-5 years, this years cap hit only 10 of the 31.5 million).
Doubt very much Gregory can be relied on to a - make it back, be more then a rotational player after so long away.
What the hell is the plan with Crawford ? Again, either a cut or reduction in his cap could be valuable in any negotiations now.
I'm usually a wait and see guy when it comes to our F.O. But I'm very crabby, right now. They have had a year and a half to figure this all out - Dak, Cooper, Jones etc. They knew how many F.A. they had to deal with this year.
Love the McCoy deal - but it's not enough. Meh on Dix, the corner is a backup. Sooooo stop wasting the money resources you have, and fill some holes DE, maybe LBer, before the well runs dry and you fall back into every other years barrel scraping. The draft alone will not fill all our needs and upgrades.
With so much time, and so much money available to them, I'm very underwhelmed so far .....

I don't really know what the deal is with Woods as an ERFA. I kinda of hope we don't re-sign him because while he was a good fit under Marinelli, I think he's a terrible fit for Nolan. If we don't hold his rights and we only have two DT's we need a 3rd before the draft IMO.

This is a bit impatient IMO. We have Cooper done and Dak has time.

I wouldn't make a decision on Crawford until after the draft. I'd either reduce his wage or cut him depending on who we have on the roster then. I disagree that we need a LB comments, now that we've agreed terms with Lee, J.Thomas and March we simply don't need one.

Agree we need a good DE and that we shouldn't rely on Gregory to be more than a rotational guy. I think we did the right thing by mostly staying out of week 1 of FA. If we sign Griffen and Snacks Harrison or a decent slot WR on Monday this will have been a great free agency period.

Of course its impatient, but given the amount of time this F.O. has had to prepare for this off season .....
Dak has time, but the ability to use that money that would be freed up does not. With Dak done, as it should of been already, we could sign Griffen and WR another quality DT.etc, etc, etc. With plenty of cap to spare. Now we are right back to where we are every F.A. dumpster diving.
And Crawford is head scratching. He's been a quality piece for us, not his fault they overpaid and he's had injuries. They have done him no favors by moving him all over the line - multiple times. But coming off 2 hip surgeries he either takes a cut or release him, and free up that money for a Griffen or s ok someone else.

We have enough cap to sign anyone we want and it has nothing to do with Dak's deal being done. Facts are we don't pay big on free agents since the Carr signing. The front office believes in paying our own, going mid-tier in FA to fill needs, and drafting well.

And that's part of the reason we are a middling team for the past 25 years.
We have the resources this year to make ourselves a much better/ deeper team. And they are doing same ol' same ol'
Look, I know I'm just *****ing when I know it's not gonna change. I believed Jerry when he said last year that he's running out of time for another Super bowl run. With a new staff, and what should have been deep coffers - I just expected more .....shame on me.

The question becomes do you want a big window or a short one? Going nuts in free agency has not yielded long runs of success. The entire point of these threads is about how many needs we have so ask yourself are we an expensive player or two away? Frankly, I hate when I hear Jerry say we are all in, because when he does he does stupid things.

If safety was a need before signing HaHa, it still is.
