Cut Mingo to keep Camden Brown

Do we need 5 safetys? I’ve been ready to move on from Hooker since 2024. He’s average at best and sucks in coverage
When they signed Thompson & Locke I thought he was gone, but it's looking like he's safe for now. For now I'll trust Parker can find a role for him and not leave him out to dry in down field coverage like Eberflus did all last season.

But I agree 5 safeties seems like a lot, even with Downs taking some snaps at nickel.

If it comes down to Brown vs Mingo, it’s Brown in a landslide.

Maybe Mingo can be decent depth, but Brown has an upside that we have yet to discover, and we probably have a WR2 to replace next year,

Exactly, which is why I think they should try to see if they can get a 6 or 7 back for Mingo. Maybe we can use the pick on a guy like Dawand Jones.

I believe you can pay a practice squad player the same as he would've been getting on the 53 man roster - right? So I think they cut Mingo with the pre-agreement that he comes back to the PS, and since he's a vested vet he doesn't pass through waivers. Then, he gets elevated the first 3 weeks of the season, because they'll for sure want his ST contribution.

Then, after week 3, we just see where the roster's at. Either other guys have been moved to injured lists and spots naturally open up, or maybe you consider cutting Brown at that time. I think something pretty similar happened with Dennis Houston a few years ago IIRC.

The reality is that Mingo is still more likely to contribute on the field this year than Brown is, and the team is in win now mode. I'd keep Brown if I absolutely gun to my head had to choose, but I think there's some roster maneuvering that will allow them to keep both.

He has always been a good blocker.
A WR5 who gets maybe 20 receptions a year but he can block.

Let’s cut the hands down star of training camp or dump a 2 time all pro returner to make room for a blocking wide receiver

I might need a minute to recover from the adrenaline rush.

I think keeping Mingo over Brown just because Mingo plays Special Teams is ludicrous.

Brown has shown more in one training camp and preseason than Mingo has in his entire career, now going into his fourth year.

Keep the obviously more talented WR and figure out how to replace Mingo on STs. He is not irreplaceable.
Thank you. I think valuing players for special teams over their main positions is absurd.
