Cutting Davis - blessing or curse?

I have mixed feelings. I'm no Leonard Davis fan, and I believe he is too fat and too slow for what we need him to do and for what we are paying him. Neverthless, it's not as if we have anyone else ready to step in and do the job, and our O-line is already spotty. Those who are STILL touting Holland are clinging to disappointment year after year, and we have no youngsters that have proven anything, so what do we do? Hopefully the Cowboys have their eye on a solid free agent.

I think he's the type of person/OL who needs a Parcells and not a Phillips. He needs someone to keep him in top shape. Then he's a force. I'm very disappointed Woicik didn't have him this offseason.

Davis was horrible last season, no one is saying Holland is any better but he's cheaper and you quite honestly can't get much worse then Davis was last season so it's not really a loss

Blessing. The guys legs are dead. He moves his feet like he has 45 pound weights on his ankles.

Think about what would actually be worse than Davis was last season.

And then add in $6 million dollars.

I am to the point where I would have been happy if they mentioned Travis Bright as his starting replacement.

So I'll take whatever name they give me right now.

A major exaggeration.

Cost/benefit was out of whack. Restructuring, at a minimum, was necessary but apparently our guys wanted to move forward. Others have noted an obvious move toward athleticism on the line, so there seems to be some thought behind it.

I like him and think he has something in the tank. Would have preferred to see him back for a reduced salary.

Blessing. It's time to get young, quick and athletic across the board. Red J has a plan, and I'm buying into it.

I'll say this, Mosley was saying yesterday that Hud Houck liked Davis a lot more than people might think -- he always defended Bigg's play and really thought a lot of him as a player. Mosley was actually very surprised he got cut for that reason.

That's because Davis is everything Houck loves in a lineman. He still thinks size beats all and anymore, it doesn't.

Sounds like a condemnation of Houck in my book.

Time to start questioning the highest-paid line coach in football.

Hudson Houck? Talk about a coach that needs to step down IMHO.

Been very disappointed in Houck since he came back to coach here. For such a vet OL ......we sure looked confused and a OL that didnt play well as a unit IMHO.

Impossible to answer unless we know who's replacing him. Despite his limitations, he might be better than Holland.

Blessing. Bigg was a big fat waste a space. You can only plug a large immobile blob of Jello at RG for so long.

blessing.

I love what garrett has done to date. if you know you have to eventually do something, then why wait do it now. We knew davis is on the way down. apprantley he was one of the players who made fun of the new dress codes. he wasn't playing up to his contract and he wasn't as effective. so see ya....lets see what else we got. lets move on.

so far we have gotten rid of all the headaches. no distractions. barber, williams, davis. all had issues, were distractions, etc.
