So what did you guys think about the play where the Giants DB pulled Harris down by his dreads?

at first I was pissed. Even though it is within the rules, it is still a dirty thing to do. but then I was thinking he really should do something not to make it easy for opponents to do that and it really is on Harris to prevent it.

It's still holding and yet another "missed" call by the biased refs.

That's exactly correct! The announcer got it wrong.

It's legal to grab or pull the hair of a player when the player has the ball and they are being tackled. However, when a player grabs another player's hair that does not have the ball, it's treated like an extension of their body and uniform. So, grabbing the player's hair on a non-ball carrier should lead to a holding penalty.

Right? I get pulling a player down by his hair in the attempt to make a tackle, but that's not the same thing as doing it in another circumstance. And then to have the announcer-stiff guy say that's a legal play after they showed it was just bizarre.

how is that in the rules? if he had the ball, it would be legal to tackle, but without the ball, that is a penalty

Actually you're right.....I didn't even think of that. It should have been a holding call or something at least since he didn't have the ball. Now I am pissed again. Man, those refs really sucked yesterday. Aside from all of the non calls on giants for holding, the premature whistle on the stripped fumble play, it seemed they were constantly spotting the ball a yard to a yard and half favorable for the Giants.

If he were the ball carrier and getting tackled it would have been legal. Otherwise it's holding just like if you grab his arm, jersey, pants, whatever.

Thats why to me the coaches should be able to challenge any play, and suffer the lost time out if they are wrong.... All teams have to have someone watching the network feed to pick stuff up like this in time to let the coaches know about it.

Games would take five hours and commercials would be twice as many as there are now. Would be unbearable to watch.

Just curious - do any of the players wear extensions or are they all real? I seem to recall a game where someone ended up with a handful of dread and I don't think it was pulled out of his scalp.
