Mods may merge, but thought this deserved own thread. "The bone graft is the Cowboys' standard operating procedure for this type of surgery, sources told ESPN... DeMarcus Lawrence had a similar surgery that included a bone graft last year and was placed on the injured reserve/designated to return list, costing him the first eight games of the season. Lawrence suffered the injury July 30, 2014, and played in his first game Nov. 2." We all know that D Law could have come back sooner than the 8 weeks. So we can all chill about the Rap BS report of 10-12 weeks.

The heavy pushing that a DL has to do would put even more stress on it, too.

Having said that, considering his injury was a little over a month sooner than Dez's... I'm still going to say the first part of December is when Dez is back.

D Law could have come back earlier. But wasn't his injury several weeks before the season began? Just looked it up. Surgery nearly six weeks before season started.

If we can stay relevant until Dec the timing for Dez back in Dec down the stretch would be significant. Just have to finish Sept,Oct Nov at this point.

True. Even if he could have come back a couple of weeks earlier. That would still have put his recovery time right around ten weeks.

And once Gregory, Hardy and Rolando McClain are back playing, it will be easier going... so it isn't like Dallas will be this short handed until December.

If that is true why does everyone keep using that as reason for potential fast recovery?

Lawrence missed 13 weeks of camp/season between July 30th and his November 2nd return.

I've heard it said he could have come back sooner... did anybody from the Cowboys Front-office ever indicate how much sooner?

I think the point of my post is that the graft does not suggest that the injury was more severe or complicated (like the Rappaport report suggested). It is standard procedure. So the original timeline released by the team is likely accurate. But who knows how it heals for him.

There must be some difference between the two injuries in that the Cowboys are estimating 4-6 weeks out for Dez and they had viewed D.Law's injury as a 8-12 week injury originally.

I thought we should have put dez on IR
To return
Don't see this any less than 8 weeks but the team obviously thinks he can be back in less than 8 games so we shall see
