D-Line Options?

With so many options on this highly talented D-Line, (which is going to be mainly utilized in a 3-4 scheme) should the Cowboys consider trading one of these stars for an established receiver now that Crayton is our "for sure" #2 starter? With the exception of Ware, I believe that any of the other linemen are tradeable and two in particular could be packaged with a pick and perhaps bring big time suitors. With an exorbant amount of talent on the line and an injury away from being a sub-par receiving core, would this be a smart move?

Ware is not a lineman, he's a LB. He does line up occasionally as an end when we go to a 4-3, but that isn't often. We basically have 6 returning defensive linemen on the team: Canty and Spears are the incumbent starting DEs and Ratliff the nose. Tank is the backup nose (for now at least), and Bowen and Hatcher are the backup ends. While several of these guys are versatile and can play both end and the nose, we still need 6 quality defensive linemen. Unless we keep a rookie UDFA as a lineman, we need to keep what we have for depth purposes, not to mention the fact that they're all talented. Ware, Ellis, and Spencer are all LBs, though they do occassionally line up as ends as I said earlier. They're still LBs.

We could trade Romo since we have Brad Johnson. I'm betting we could get Wayne Chrebet...

The only pass rusher I would trade is Ellis but I highly doubt we'd get a decent #2 for him.

Considering what the Giants did last year with three very good pass rushers, there is no way I trade Ellis because of our receiver situation. Personally, I don't really see a #2 receiver situation. I think we are in pretty damn good shape on the offensive front. TO, Crayton, Hurd, Austin, Witten, Felix Jones, Barber, and maybe a little of the new Danny boy with our oline and Romo firing the ball out. This offense baring injury is going to be something fierce. More scary than last year considering we now have Felix and the young receivers are apparently much better this season.

With Stanback coming along on top of that, at this point I'm not sure we even need to go after Roy Williams when (if) he becomes a FA next year.

I hope we could get something for spears even though he doesn't have much value.

I don't want to trade him if we did I wouldn't lose any sleep and I'll reserve judgement on the young wrs until I see the actually play.

How'd they do last year? Word out of camp by not only the coaches, but the DBs is they are much improved in several facets of the their game

No, you win championships with Big bad defenses, and i feel that his cowboys defense is going to return to the glory years of doomsday defense.

Jimmy Johnson proved that you win with more defensive linemen, keeping them fresh and active, players with talent. The Cowboys now have that with Spears whom will play NT some, Ratliff whom will play LDE some, Canty whom is on the verge of becoming all pro. Then Hatcher, and Bowen backing up. Along with Tank Johnson who could be a beast this year.

You dont trade quality linemen. Never!!!!!!!

Now dont worry, the Cowboys if you want a trade, and it seemed that Jerry Jones touched on this subject a few days ago on FSN, that teams might trade with the Cowboys now, due to fact, Miami wiill be there waiting on the waiver wire, and teams might want our players instead of them just going free.

Now whom are trade possibilities, lets look at the opposite side of the line, offensive line. Joe Berger is said to be making a move. That could leave one of these players out in the cold trade market, Kosier, McQuistan, Marten, or Proctor. I think one of these players will be traded this year.

Second, look at the defensive backfield. Newman, Henry, Adam Jones, Mike Jenkins, Scandrick, Alan Ball, Olgesby, for CBs. Now thats 7 cbs. I see only 6 making the team. Now look at the secondary, Hamlin, Roy, Watkins, Brown - who reports are coming on, Dewayne Davis, thats 5 safeties, i see only possibly 4 making the team.

So, I do think there are some other options in trades with 6 wfs on team now, and 4 tight ends, something has to give. And at linebacker where you need at least 8 linebackers, you have Ellis, Spencer and Ware your big 3, then James, Burnett, Carpenter - who is coming on finally at camp, Zach Thomas, then Walden whom would have no trade value, but you have justin rogers and george, whom i hear is showing some moves and talent, thats 9 linebackers not counting walden, so yes, there could be trades.

So, dont worry; This way either the cowboys can get an extra draft pick or two, or use a few of those players to possibly go out and get a wr, if needbe.

Hurd played pretty well when given the chance but Austin dropped to many balls to say he was good. He did come through with a couple of timely penalties in the GB game. :D

Crayton? TO, Crayton, and Hurd would be your top three WRs. Thats all you need baring injury.
