I’ve seen this take too many times. Dak made the right read and throw there. The defense slipped into man where the MLB was forced to cover the slot WR one on one. That’s an easy read and throw where Dallas got exactly what they wanted with their best WR in Lamb playing in the slot. Unfortunately, Fred Warner is an all world LB with DB speed and closed on that route like Ussain Bolt. It was an all-pro play by Warner. The more I watch Dak the more it seems like he pre-determines some of his throws and goes there regardless of what the D is doing. On the pass attempt to Cee Dee Lamb down the seam that had Fred Warner covering him, Dak missed a WIDE OPEN TY Hilton down the other seam. Pre-snap the left half of the field was unoccupied and you had a seam route. Dak has to recognize that if Hilton gets a clean release he has a TD, instead he tried to fit a ball into Lamb. Lamb probably should make that catch but it’s much harder than a wide open WR.
Dak was bad Sunday, but that play was just an amazing defensive sequence for SF.
