Part of it has to do with how little he plays. Sometimes a player is best used sparingly. I can think of several on our defense that would be better with less snaps(hello Jeff Heath). If Brice got 50 snaps a game, people would be lining up to complain about him. I do think he is an asset though.

Remember how much of a beast Troy Hambrick looked backing up Emmitt? Not so much when opposing defenses targeted him.

Just an interesting stat.
It's not just Butler. Since he came into the league, Dak has excelled at 15+ yard throws, and a lot of Butler's receptions are at that target distance.

Prescott's 15+yard targets
2016-17
Butler 10 of 20 (50%) 309 yd 3 td 0 int 135.4
others 44 of 91 (48%) 1,134 yd 11 td 1 int 129.3

On these throws, the league averages over that time are 41% completions and an 85.4 passer rating.

Butler should be starting over Terrence Williams but this is the same group of coaches that prefer Jeff Heath over Xavier Woods.
