Just a question. How come there is not a call for Dak to gracefully step down 1) after saying all year that this is Romo's team.2) knowing that Romo only has two or so years left?

At the end of the day, Tony is at the end of his career, no matter how you slice it. Dak has proven to not just be the future, but also the present. It's ridiculous to stand in the way of the future and progress for a guy who is at the tail end of his career, and take 1-2 key years of actual game experience for the future/present franchise QB.

At some point, people need to get over their affection for Tony, as much as he's meant to the team, and embrace the future.

They are trying that in that other thing too... on the other forum.

In the end it is the decision by FO and HC
Dak saying "this is Tony's team" gave them the option to do this without any fuss but they feel that Dak is better for this team right now

Not that complicated

Coming to the end of his career. My point is Dak is under contract for three more years, Dak could have easily switched the script and gave a press conference stepping aside for Tony to return.
This is not a Dak vs Tony post. Just a hypothetical question.

Uh, no he couldn't. It's not his call to make, just like it wasn't Tony's. The call was made by Jason/Jerry: what we've seen is how the players have reacted to it.

Again, there is no point in standing in the way of the future for a guy who already had a decade to get it done, and is at the tail end of his career anyway. At this point, I'd much rather Dak playing and getting experience in these years. Otherwise, if Dak sits for two seasons and comes back in, think of how much better he would have been at that point if he had been playing that whole time.

Not Dak's call and why in God's name would he do this? This is professional sports. He has a JOB .. he's a competitor The team has won 8 straight and we have the best record in the league. That would be the worst scenario possible.

No QB has proven much anything after 9 games.

People wants us to waste Dak's prime years just so Tony has an opportunity to get to a SB. No guarantee that Tony can do it. Then what?

These aren't Dak's prime years. Those are ahead of him. Romo on the other hand is at the apex of his career. Just saying all even Romo is the better QB right now. I'm just saying just as Romo stepped up to kill any QB controversy Dak could have as well by stepping down.

I'm not against Dak at all, this is the best season as a Cowboy fan in for ever. I just have conflicting feelings. Its like a long term girlfriend that you have had an up and down relationship with for years, but she been there thick and thin and things finally seem like they are going to work themselves out. But you met this new girl that you are clicking with right away. Just trying to figure out how can i have my cake and eat it too.

You're still suffering effects. It's quite alright. What you're proposing is extremely unreasonable. You don't just step down as a player... Trust.. someone is paid a lot to TELL YOU... you aren't starting. Romo has started and finished two regular season games in two years. Stating that Romo "is the better qb" at this point and time is not an exact science. Dak is playing on par right now with Romo's best 8 game stretches at any point in his career. It's been documented on this board. You don't disrupt it.

Romo is not at the apex. He is on the downside of his career. He hasn't been able to play the last 2 years. If he comes back, we'll all be holding our breath every time he gets hit. Any team that picks him up if he doesn't retire will still be taking a big chance with him. This is not 2014 anymore. I just don't get it. People saying how can we beat Seattle without Romo playing that defense? Tony can not take many big hits anymore. Seattle, Philly and Carolina all took Romo out and what they all have in common is that they had a good defense.

Look I do understand feeling bad for Tony. Watching that news conference I felt sorry for him too. He's a great guy and deserved to win a SB. I just don't think it's meant to be. Age and injuries have taken a toll. If he was healthy Dak wouldn't have a chance to take his job right now. I was upset when Tony got hurt because I thought there goes another season down the drain. Then Dak showed up and I've been very surprised. I called him a Quincy Carter when we drafted him. But I don't want to jeopardize what we have going on here. I don't know if we're going to make the SB this year but we are on the right path. haven't felt this way in years.
