Dak and Zeke with our offense

So I live in Giants territory and spent a fair amount of time yesterday debating my father in-law (rabid giants fan) about Dak and Zeke's success w/i our offense. I know this has been covered here in the past but I've grown tired of the argument that Dak and Zeke look so good only because of our offensive weapons and Oline in particular.

He certainly praised Dak for doing all the right things and what's been asked of him but it was more an underhanded complement with the typical oline caveat. He was saying Wentz would look as good here or how Dak would struggle on other teams with lesser blocking. Eli get 2 seconds to read and throw while Dak gets 7. Dak is rarely in 3rd and long situations. My response was he's clearly not wathing our games and him playing.

Then on to Zeke where he claims he's just above average. Getting 7+ years before he's even touched. He doesn't have moves, just a straight forward runner. My response here is I view Zeke as more a power runner than shifty. Also there are other attributes to his game (ie blocking, pass catching, etc) that are huge.

Was nice to see once again Dak and Zeke step up and wrap up a win. Any thoughts on this, just a bitter Giant's fan?

Our OL can be the starting five in the pro-bowl. That is why you focus so much on building the trenches. I'd hesitate to put Free there, because sometimes he looks that awful. I don't know if that's even more a testimony to Zach Martin or after sometimes just shuts it down.

And Zeke actually makes the OL even better. Even when moving laterally, he's moving forward, he keeps pushing the pile, but has speed and his vision is ridiculous.. he moves in between the tackles as good if not better than anybody in the league..

Sounds like your father in law is a bit envious and / or delusional about this. LOL.
But I am sure there are some, and probably on here that will agree with him, Dak would not be the same with a lesser OL. Just because that is the way some people are.

Might be time for a divorce. ;)

Dak. And Zeke are very fortunate to be in our offensive system. Zeke is a great player today and Dak is a good one today.

They would both have more struggles without the cozy confines of our offensive unit.

That isn't criticism. It's reality.

Kudos to Scott Linehan for bringing Dak along.

What does Jerry pay Wade Wilson for?

22 starters out there plus special teams.
The team game of all team games.
Can't just be the oline just like it can't just be the RB or QB....even though there are least 5 of them, so it's a bit more real.

Dak is playing his butt off.

I do think with Zeke and Dez (who was out lot in 2015), last year's team would have won most of those one score (or overtime) games though.
But even though Dak DOES have it way easier than most QBs (like Tony did two years ago) he has been much more than just a bus driver.

It's becoming a tired narrative. Did people forget about last year already?

The O line is one piece (albeit a very important piece) of an awesome offense that consists of MANY pieces.
that's a good point that I wish I brought up......same oline as last year, different QB with opposite results!

Maybe the Giants should concentrate on fixing their offensive line, rather than draft receivers. Then Eli and all of their other skill players will be All-Pros.

No Zeke last year. Best RB in Dallas since Emmitt.
No Dez either for much of it.
Defense is a bit better this year too...though they still aren't all that.

But yes, Dak is an upgrade at QB from 2015.

Leary was injured the off-season and first few games and Martin had a neck injury. McFadden was still a thousand yard rusher and didn't start until a few games in. They lost Dunbar from the start.

That being said, Cassel didn't have an off-season with Linehan and we played musical chairs at QB and we were trying to push Romo back.

Last season was a total disaster.

true but we've gone a few games w/o Dez and Dak fared just fine. Also and although many don't acknowledge, but we fielded a decent running game last season.

If you have young kids, you should move to Dallas for a few years so they won't be tempted to be Giants fans.

Dak and Zeke are good/great players, without question.

They're benefitting, and not having the same typical rookie issues, due to the talent around them that helps them be even better.

They're going to be great players anyway but it's going to be accelerated behind an O-line like this.

For us as fans we're absolutely lucky as can be to have such a great line that is going to actually be made to look even more dominate by a special player like Zeke.

Zeke would be good on pretty much any team but behind an o-line like this he's able to be the special player he is, right from the start.

Dak is great and he's only going to get better with more experience.

So OL blocking has a huge impact on the running and passing games? That's amazing insight, your friend is a true savant. Zeke is a straight forward runner,,, that regularly bounces around the edge and heads up the sideline leaving defenders in the dust, got it.

Show your father in law this:

From the article:

Through 11 games, he’s 231-of-340 for 2,835 yards with 18 touchdowns and two interceptions. That puts him on pace for what would inarguably be the best statistical rookie passing season of all time, and outings like Thursday’s are what make that increasingly easier to believe.

Amazing. Wow.
