I’d rather overpay Rodgers than overpay Dak.
sorry no way around eithers deal. not happening move on from the wild hypotheticals, daks here until 24 at minium. lets bolster this team and go after another run. 2 great seasons in a row that ended in heartbreak but still plenty to be positive from.. sorry, its true. OL biggest concern, get more physical and commit to the run game bit more in playoff games.

once again our OL got man handled and that why we lost IMO., sure Dak INTs didn't help but qbs all of them tend to try and make plays when they feel that all there is on offense is try and make plays that might not be there..not letting dak completely off the hook but our offense against the rams 18, 21 9ers, and now this 9ers game our OL did NOT show up with a run game.. each loss no run game and very little time to throw.. its pretty obvious that's the bigger issue.

need more physical LG and either Steele back or new RT.. Tyron and Peters are older and cannot be counted on but more for depth swing guys next season.

Dead cap in 2024 is 40 million. That’s not an out.
Let's put it another way........at the end of the 2023 season, Dak will have rec'd all his guaranteed money ($126M). Notice the dead cap for this year ($108M) vs 2024 of $40M.

BTW ........I'm 100% confident Dak won't play 1 down without new guaranteed money for 2024 with either the Cowboys or another team.

Right but cutting him next off-season still isn’t a realistic possibility. Post June 1st cut in 2025 would be doable from a salary cap standpoint. He’d count 10 million against our 2025 and 2026 cap.

Some of you guys really need to take a dive into the contract complications of cutting or not extending Dak b/c some of these opinions make no sense. Cut Dak and sign Rodgers? That would only work you could field the other 52 positions with 30% of the cap.:lmao:

Are you sure? notice his 2024 cap hit is $52m (the highest of any year in the contract ).......that screaming something going to happen, either restructure or released.

For real ......LOL
In 2023 Dak has a $49M cap hit and $89M dead cap but we are taking on Rogers's $110M? x 100
We either have some children on the board today or some adults who need to ask for a refund on their education.

Why isnt is realitic? You take a $18 mil dead cap hit in 2024 (while saving $34 mil) and a $22 mil dead cap in 2025.

Is it a lot? Yes. But look how Philly handled Wentz. They took close to $34 dead cap by trading him, and now they're onto the NFC Championship 3 year later.

Looking at overthecap, it looks like if we cut him after June 1st 2024, he will eat up 18m of dead money, but we free up 34 million. Seems like a no brainer to start looking for other options.
Dak has $39.9M in dead money in 2024 with a cap hit of $52M so if released Dallas eats near $20M in BOTH 2024 & 2025 with a cap savings of $32M in 2024.....but with a $49M cap hit in 2023 I doubt Jerry & Co.s stands pat and instead they will 'believe in Dak' to the tune of restructuring his deal and keeping the nightmare QB in Dallas for even more years.

So what about taking a flyer on Stetson Bennett? He should be available in the 6th or 7th, he can make all the nfl throws, he’s accurate and he has shown he shows up in big games and knows how to win.

Best part about Dak's deal is that even if he is re-signed, the prorated bonus from original contract and restructured options still remain in 25 and 26.
So even with a new deal, the 18mil prorated bonus in 2025 still applies + the new contract + new prorated bonus.
And the 3mil in 2026 still counts. If the team can't re-sign him after the end of 2024, we still eat 21mil dead in 2025 when he's a free agent. The team can't franchise tag him either

Jerry may restructure but he won’t cut him. Restructuring will just make it impossible to cut him in 2025. Each restructure will extend Dak’s stay by 1 year. I just can’t see Jerry taking the L and eating a huge dead cap number.

I agree.......we will know soon coz if they let the 2023 $49M cap hit stand........it's a clear sign they are considering other options. If it's restructured, he's likely a Cowboy for another 3-4 years.

I know this is all fan talk, but honestly do you really think Jerry and company will do anything dramatic to improve the team? Before you cut Dak (which I would love to do), you would need to start from scratch with a new direction from management. One that doesn't overvalue all of it's own players. One willing to take chances when they see an open window (like the past weak division which is now closed). One willing to give their coaches free reign to bench or cut under performing players. But none of that is going to happen.

Right now, I would be willing to bet that Jerry actually doubles down on Dak. He looks for an extension in a year or 2. Maybe another 4 year deal to push money down the pipeline and free up space now.

As fans, we see 27 years of failure. But Jerry sees the world's most valuable team, stadium renovations for the World Cup 2026, 12 win seasons, and his name constantly in the headlines. He isn't going to take a chance to rebuild and risk any of that, sadly.

You’re not going find a better option than Dak unless you hit on a QB in the draft. I hope this isn’t going to be another offseason where fans are listing all the veteran castoffs they would rather have at QB. Marcus Mariota, Derek Carr or maybe we can coax Ryan Fitzpatrick out of retirement. Lol
