Dak complaint thread

While I agree their defense was good - I think the combination of the Pats Oline on the left side being awful, Maye looking lost (almost wonder if he has some type of injury - he was bad most of the playoffs) and the Pats just being a lucky Super Bowl participant last night were the biggest factors.
I believe all the hits Maye took through the playoffs had him seeing ghosts and then getting hit right away. I saw they reported he has had shoulder issues and needed an injection. Not 100% if he did have the injection.

You guys keep saying trade down for extra picks! We need immediate starters can’t do that with trading down! Quality over quantity is way better! Most low draft picks don’t even make the team!
Only way I'd trade down is if we could get a late 1st and a 2nd for the 20th pick. And if there were starting quality LBs available there.

Darnold was 19-38 for 202 yards. If Dak had a game like that his detractors would have a field day.

Darnold was sacked just once.

Seattle had 6 sacks, all six came from players they drafted. They also had 2 INTs. Darnold was carried by his team to the SB, not the other way around.

One of these two Cinderella QB was going to implode in this game. You just knew it. That's why 1 year does not make a career.

If the Cowboys want to win a SB, do what Seattle did. Build a strong defense that can rush the passer and stop the run. And get a running game that can get chunks of yards.
if you watched the game carefully, you would have noticed Darnold getting the ball out quickly to avoid sacks as much as possible. he was getting pressured all day long without getting sacked or turning the ball over until that one Int.

And the KO return against the 49ers.

Not to mention all the other turnovers and 3-and-outs.
I keep trying to tell them, points scored/allowed is not a good way to rate an O/D. Too many factors involved.

People confuse the fact that points are the most important w/ the most accurate way to rate an O/D.

Dak has yet to show that he can do what Darnold did regardless of the team around him.

Darnold went 3-0 in the playoffs this year.

In those 3 games he completed 62% of his passes for 670 yards. 5 TDs to 0 INTs.

You can give all credit to the defense you want, but the offense still put up 41, 31, and 29 points.

Until Dak shows he can be consistent against playoff caliber teams then no, he’s not better than Super Bowl champion Sam Darnold.

Darnold played great this year, no question.... but to say Dak has yet to show that he do what Darnold did "regardless of the team around him" shows that your knowledge for football is alarmingly low.

Darnold played great this year and had the league's best defense to compliment him. Dak played great this year and had the worse defense in the NFL to compliment him.

I know you won't answer this question because it will dilute your narrative, but do you believe the Cowboys go through the playoffs 3-0 this year with Darnold under center and this worst ranked defense in the NFL?

Common sense and basic intelligence say it wouldn't be possible.

Now if you believe Darnold is really that great, why didn't he help lead the Jets, Panthers, 49ers, and Vikings to the Superbowl the way he did with Seattle?

I remember you giving Matthew Stafford excuses for failing to win a playoff game until his 12th season in the league. Why didn't Stafford do anything of significance with Detroit "regardless of the team around him"?

See im confused now.... because you give excuses for other quarterbacks, but then say what our quarterback need to do "regardless of the team around him" the year he has the worst defense in the NFL. Hypocrisy much?

The defense we want can’t happen with the bloated offensive contracts we currently have.

And some of y’all want to add another to the books with Pickens.
Exactly. And my point on Dak is if you are expecting him put the team on his back to win a Super Bowl it isn’t happening. Strong defense with a strong run game. Just manage the game like Darnold. I don’t think Dak is worth 60 million but that’s for another thread.

The fanbase needs to realize that they can’t have everything.

If you want Dak, Lamb, and Pickens then you’re going to have to win games 45-42 on a weekly basis.

If you want what Seattle has then you’re going to have to face the truth about your favorite player.

Trade pickens, draft a QUARTERBACK, hire a coach, sign some defensive pieces, you'll have a super bowl in 2 years.

The real key to the game was the Hags D line just owning the Pats O line; especially on the left side. And yet the Pats OC never had Maye rolling out to the right that I can remember. AND the Pats had no running game; their leading rusher was Maye running for his life.
THIS.
The Pats left tackle and left guard turnstile combo was the biggest factor in Seattle's defense looking the way it did.
When a whole side of your oline is getting dominated consistently, you lose.
Sound familiar?

As the Cowboys offseason goes its defense, defense and more defense, right?

But then there's that little problem of left tackle where there are no current capable starters on this roster.

They better get a very good FA LT or the team is gonna suck offensively.
I don't care if Parker has the dee looking like the 85 Bears.
Left Tacke remains a HUGE problem.
It needs fixed just like the defense.

Darnold played good this season
moronic to call it great
25 tds vs 14 picks is NOT great
he actually played better in 2024
now he did step it up some in the playoffs up to the SB where he was meh at best and quite lucky

You watch the Super Bowl old man? Can you get through your thick skull that spending all your money and resources on offense might be good for entertainment and fantasy football but not for winning football.

Sign and trade Pickens for defense. You can’t pay two wide receivers over 30 million. A QB 60 million. Over pay an injury prone running back who finally had one good season ect.

If someone, anyone can get through to Jerrah, let him know this defense has a long way to go and you won’t be able to get there if every resource is on the offense.

Dak is better than Darnold but will never sniff a Super Bowl with the makeup of this team.
Jerald makes emotional decisions. He does not have an analytical brain cell.

Kupp made $12M this season and JSN was on a rookie deal.

My prediction:
Jerry will blow all available free agency cap money on Pickens.
He will use the draft on defense.
Maybe a few bargin bin defensive free agents as well.

If there is a lesson to be learned from watching Seattle......is going to a 3-4 defense is a mistake.
And look what we are doing.....

This might be the biggest mistake since signing Prescott to that mind numbing deal.

Watch us spend all this draft capital on players....wholesale changes on defense.....only to figure out that the scheme is crap...and offenses can get massive advantages in matchups just by going to 3 and 4 WR sets.

It's gonna take years for this to play out.....and the playoff window will shut before you know it.

I swear this franchise learns nothing from it's past failures. We already went down this road once with Parcells....with nothing to show for it.
Why would it take years? We simply run a 4-3 and its not generating the pressure we would like. I see us running a 3-4 similar to Denver where the OLBs are edge rushers. We have OLBs that already fit that scheme in Ezeiraku and Houston.

I’m not sure Kupp was worth the 12 mil he got. He is a shadow of his former self. It was the JSN show and not much else.

You can win with offense and you can win with defense. It's been done both ways. Seattle just had a really frickin' good defense.
Exactly, you have to be dominant in one aspect and good enough in another.
