He has a no trade clause and no franchise clause. The options are let him play out his contract and try to re-sign or go for an extension sometime this year. Maybe he would agree to a trade but it's not in his best interest and the Cowboys will eat a big cap hit.

Believe cap hit without extension this year will be about $55M, if he then leaves after this year he still will have a $40M cap hit in 2025.
I would think the Jones boys have seen enough...if he cannot get out of the first round he just does not have that in him and we have to find someone else...thus let him play out his contract this year and see what happens

Salary cap implications are the main reason why Jerry Jones has not released Dak Prescott IF it is true he has 'seen enough'. Jones is the owner. He can eat any player contract if he so desires at any time and cry how the action further limits his roster moves afterwards.

Not that I think they'll do this, but if they make him a post June cut would he still count 40 million against the cap in 2025? I believe they'll save 34 million off the cap hit this year.

As of now Dak has 100% leverage........he's a free agent next March and there isn't damn thing Jerry can do about it other than pay him what he wants. Otherwise, he will walk.....So he will decide whether or not the Cowboys extend him not the other way around.

That's the cold reality Jerry has backed himself into with Dak's contract..........

With the 40 million dollar hit for Prescott Dallas still has 79 million in cap space in 2025.

Make Prescott a June 1st cut and Dallas would save 14 million in cap space. If Dallas chose this option they would have 93 million in cap space.

Dallas could sign Lamb and Parsons and still have plenty of cap space to do anything they want.

Cap wise Dallas is in great shape in the upcoming future. Moving on from Prescott would not be the cap disaster that most portray it to be.

This makes me laugh.

In the previous I posted that Dallas enough cap space to walk away from Prescott. Dallas could easily sign another QB to a much better deal for the team. Then start drafting QBs. Till you hit.

Example, would you rather have Cousins at 45 million a year or Prescott at 60 million a year? You can get the same result at a cheaper price.

Play this year out and move on to the next.

So if the $40 million was not owed to Dak in 2025, the Cowboys would have $119 million available in cap space?

lol. Thats incorrect. If Dak is all powerful why hasn’t he “made” Jerry pay him what he wants already? It’s because Dak has no power over that.
