When he was at Mississippi State he had seasons were he rushed for....

829 yards
986
588

That ability had to have been one of the reasons we drafted him, a,,,,mobile QB,

His first 4 NFL seasons he had over 200 carries, he was a mobile QB.

Could his problem be him knowing he can no longer out run anyone so he hesitates to try? Imagine Russell Wilson if he couldn't run, hell.....Lamar and Kylar, Cam!

A mobile QB forced to become a pocket passer, hmmmm?

Fran Tarkenton having to stay in the pocket....ouch!!!!!!!!!!!!

He lost a skill that made him a level above many QB’s in the NFL. Now he just sits in the pocket and takes the sack. I get his ankle injury did a number on his mental state and he’s scared to hurt it again, but he may need to go to therapy and get that resolved.

I think he is being coached to avoid running. JJ and Stephen were vocal about the risk involved in his TD run vs Atlanta. Would not surprise me if they are telling him to play it safe— if he gets hurt, the ship goes down lol

This is my take as well.. There have just been too many times when there was 7-8 yards of grass in front of him and he has passed it up for low percentage pass. I know our season is down the drain if he gets hurt but if he's out of the pocket up against the sideline get the easy yards and get out of bounds.. We're playing football here not table tennis. There is always going to be some risk involved.

He a 4.8 40 guy so big difference from doing it in college and pro”s.

4.8 with work for a QB to escape the pocket and gain those 10-15 yards.....first downs! Not talking Vick, Jackson type running.

Dual threat is what we paid for.

100% agree

That said— he looks slow to me. I mean he was never a burner lol— but he he just looks real rickety and slow when he starts to rumble. He is getting run down by DL with regularity and his escapability is vanishing.

I hope it’s connected to the recovery from surgery and he gets some mobility back— bc right now, he is not looking good without a clean pocket or designed rollout

I can-understand why he doesn’t run that much , because of the ankle surgery . But cant understand the fumbling when sacked , may be he get surprised by the angle of defender , he should hold up better and not cough the ball.

How about...

Dak....I can no longer do the things I once did because of the injury, so I think it's only fair and right that we restructure the $$$$$, you paid for something I can no longer delivery.

I have been saying that. He ran it in against the falcons and was PUMPED. But I don’t think the staff likes him running. He has taken off a few times this year and seemed to be fast enough to get it done.

He had a 3rd and short and rolled out and had plenty of space to pick it up easily. But threw it deep and ended up punting. They have to let him run with it. Just the threat can hold a defense for a second.

I didn’t hear about that. I saw the look on some of the staffs face after the run. He was so excited. But also heard Elliot run by him and say he should have tossed it out to him and let him take it in.

In past seasons we have seen him catch a hole and run it in from 10-15 yards out and never heard the staff say anything. Now that he was injured or maybe now they have paid him they want him in the pocket. JJ has to realize it’s gonna cost you games keeping him in the pocket. It’s part of the way he could carry the team when needed..
