Seems to be the bywords in Dallas this off season so since it is Feb 1st and home with the crud thought I would see what a Dak draft would look like. Now we know all will change once free agency starts and we know trades will happen draft day (or before) and the combine will move some up and some down but it is a mock.

I do see QBs and OTs being the key in the draft for Dallas. If a number of both go early it will push guys to us, if not then the world spins again. So what is Dak friendly, I see it as having a WR that can gain separation, something none of ours do, a TE that can get up the field, a healthy OL with maybe an upgrade to LG and definitely a swing OT that actually knows how to block, especially pass block.

Yes the defense needs a heir apparent to Lee and another safety would be nice but the first three rounds are critical along with free agency to make this Dak's offense not a ******* offense of the departed Romo. So here goes.

19. Tremaine Edmunds OLB/ILB Virginia Tech - really hoping Ridley WR or Smith OLB or Nelson OG would get pushed down but don't see it happening. Edmunds is still raw regardless of his stats and will take some time although he would give you an immediate upgrade at the SAM spot until he can learn the ropes from Lee. I don't see Hitchens or frankly Irving still with the team. Belief is that Colts will offer contracts to both and we end up with the #37 pick also in the draft. Colts are building a defense for their new DC.

37. DJ Chark WR LSU - great height, great speed, know how to separate and definite not the numbers based on how LSU ran their offense but you can see the upside especially in the Senior Bowl. At 6'3" and 198 has to speed to burn the secondary especially if they single cover him. A surprise here, maybe but if he had played in a more NFL traditional offense, he might have projected to a top 15 pleyer.

50. Dallas Goedert TE S. Dakota St. - he is really a clone of Witten although I am not sure if Dallas will even draft a TE with Witten back, Gathers back and Jarwin back who the coaches see as a great receiving TE. And there is also Hanna and Swaim although I suspect Hanna will be cut for cap reasons and Swaim may or may make it to camp. Goedert is a great player and would be a great addition just not sure we see a TE this early. If not Goedert then would hope Rodney Harrison S Alabama is the pick.

81. Leighton Vander Esch ILB Boise St. - yep going with another LB, the better the front seven the better the secondary. We seem to like the Boise State guys and Esch is a good one, well worth the shot at 81.

119. Larry Allen III OG Harvard - many will scoff but believe me Jerry is loyal and he will believe that the III will be just as good as Jr. and the starting LG. Has great size and build although could add another 20 pounds or so. He is fast, a killer in run blocking and just as good at pass blocking. Has a chiseled body similar to Tyron Smith. Don't believe the boards as they all see him as undrafted. That is a huge mistake.

135. Godwin Igwebuike S Northwestern - with a 4th round comp pick Dallas looks for value and the guy most think might be the worthwhile guy. Godwin is a very, very good FS and can play SS. Great in cover, strong tackler, great character guy, and just an all round good football character. He will help on special teams and will allow Dallas to move Jones to his more natural spot at CB.

137. Scott Pagano DT Oregon - another 4th round comp, a DT can could play all 4 spots on the DL although probably more of a 3tech or 1tech guy that can get up the field. Another very high character guy and team player.

174. Equanimeous St. Brown WR Notre Dame - great size, great hands, fights for the ball, could go much higher but a solid steal as a 5th round comp. Knows how to get open and will get you the yards you need. Very intelligent ball player and would give the team another option in the redzone. Would not be surprised to see him go in 2nd or 3rd. A player that Dak could actually throw the ball up and know that no one will out jump him. Stats down mostly due to extreme poor QB play at Notre Dame.

175. Tyrell Crosby OT Oregon - another 5th round comp that would be a viable swing guy if still on the board. Did not allow a single sack or QB hit all year and that would be just fine for Dak.

195. Kevin Toliver CB LSU - could be a sleeper pick but if pans out could move Awuzie to safety which probably makes the secondary that much better.

237. Brett Toth OT Army - perfect Dallas pick, 2 year commitment to the Army, great character, can play much better than many understand, Dallas happy to wait him out.

Is this a Dak friendly draft, IMO, yes. Two WR and TE that can stretch the field and IMO a true LG. Would like to see Dallas sign Cameron Fleming OT in free agency and maybe just maybe give Allen Robinson a one year make or break deal. Due I think some guys on the roster people expect to be there will be. Nope, I could see Scandrick gone and Beasley for that matter in trades. Dez is a great unknown but not sure what will happen with him. Anyway Happy Feb 1st.

We lose Irving and then do not grab any DLinemen until end of the 4th round? Bad.

Remove Edmonds and give me Hurst or Davenport. Remove one of the late round OTs and get a smallish quick receiving back.

I dont think you can say Dak Friendly here... Stretching the field is not what Dak needs... Dez and CO (minus Witt) can get down the field fine... they need to run crisp routes and can get separation more of a Joystick type of player Moore from Maryland is more Dak Friendly, Dak does not throw a person Open like Romo did he waits to see someone Open.... IM ok with Dallas Goedert as I think this is Witts last year and others done impress me, but he's not going to last to middle of RD 3, he's being reported as best TE in the draft.

The issue for me and I believe the staff would be thinking is to keep the pocket clean and it stays that way regardless of injury. This year>
That IMO, requires either a high [2-3] draft pick or a high priority FA.

I DO NOT see LBer @ 19. JMO but finding an LBer to get you 75+ tackles a year with decent coverage ability is not that hard. Hitchen was a what 3rd/4th rounder? We need a Lee clone. Strong work ethic, leadership, and high football IQ. I'm guessing 19 is going be highest grade player to drop and fill a position of need. Like the 50 and 81 pick. From what I've read, Larry Allen Jr is closer to 6th or 7th.

Top 5 right now. He’s old but durable and consistent: he doesn’t drop passes and gets 1st downs.
there are 20 TE that qualify for that description
But TE isnt going to keep Dak clean.Thats the issue the Offensive line get help on the line

If the line stays healthy, and dark improves his accuracy and decision making, we’ll be top 4 in scoring.

4 yards and a cloud of dust. Jason gets very little yac. It's time for Jason to call it a career. Let the younger, stronger, faster guys get a chance to play. I love the guy but we all know that it's time for him to give it up. The shameful thing is, despite having talented and capable players on the bench, our coaches have not developed the heir apparent.

We can keep Witten and get another t e. He and Rico can go 2 te.
