Twitter: Dak needs 6 passing touchdowns to become the Cowboys franchise leader

Personally, I think the way TD passes are tabulated should be reconsidered. For example, the offense is at the 50 yard line and the QB tosses a short 1 yard pass out to the left side. The receiver jukes the 1st defender and wins an easy open field race to the endzone for a TD. Did the QB really throw a "50 yard TD pass"? Not in my opinion, but I understand that how the NFL will track the stat.
True as we know, or all should realize some stats are not what they are.
This is where YAC should factor in as well.
What if that pass ended up being a backwards pass slightly. And went as a 50 yard TD instead.

Michael and Emmitt joked about this. And Emmitt acknowledged it.
Look how times Irvin was tackled inside the 5, and many times at the 1 yard line only for Emmitt to get a rushing TD.
How many of those TD”s decreased Emmitt’s yards per run. Ok, did not hurt that much overall. But you understand what I mean.

Good regular season QB we will see how it goes if they make the playoffs. Need to also show strong against tough top ranked defenses and not rely on just beating up mediocre teams.

Hard to say. If Roger and Troy played in this era they would have spent more time in concussion protocol than any other players in team history. For instance, Aikman would not have been allowed to play in Super Bowl 28. He was still having headaches and nausea from a concussion he suffered in the NFC title game.

When Staubach played it was even worse. Head injuries were dismissed. "Oh he's alright, he just got his bell rung". As soon as a player could stand up straight and count past two they let him play.
I don’t think they would have. They took poundings in their time frames.
Those hits are not allowed now days. How many roughing penalties would been called back on with today’s rules. Granted they rarely got the calls even in their days.

But rules then allowed the defense to be thugs.

I dont know about those other guys, but all I'm doing is defending a Top 5 QB as a Top 5 QB, as always.
Every sensible Cowboys fan knows exactly what you 2 are doing
Either you are paid shills or have the intelligence of a 5th grader

In a era where N.F.L. defenses play with one hand tied behind their backs.
You can talk eras, but you still have to be a high performer to achieve this status.

Not to mention if you look at current players since Dak has joined the league, only Wilson, Cousin, Brady, Mahomes, and Rodgers have thrown more TDs in that time frame. Stafford and Goff are the only active players that round out the top 10. Allen is #11 and Mayfield is #16. With Herbert, Lamar, and Burrows outside of the top 20. Sure, Allen, Herbert and Burrows would be ahead of Dak if they had the 4 extra years, but that still puts him in top 10 over a 10 year period. And what stands out, is that only Dak, Brady, and Cousins were not 1st rd draft picks on that list.

So yes, if Staubach, Aikman, and white, played in today's era they may still held the lead, but it doesn't take away from the accomplishments of what Dak is doing now.
