Dak Prescott was a legitimate MVP Candidate during his rookie season. His play has fallen off since; we can credit the DC's exposing his weaknesses, his line just isn't as good, nor his weapons around him. We cannot give Dak a free pass, either; highly inaccurate, holds the football too long, not aggressive enough, struggles with ball insecurity, etc.

In his rookie year, he not only had Tony Romo, but also Mark Sanchez in his ear. Veteran QB's who assisted his development. Add in a legitimate QB coach in Wade Wilson, Dak has tremendous support guiding him. Fast forward to this season, two green QB's on their current roster, a QB Coach in his first year of coaching, an OC in Linehan who is now up in the booth, not on the sidelines talking with his QB.

For the most part, Dak Prescott's issues are correctable, from his footwork, his pocket awareness, his ball security, his mental clock, his throwing mechanics, etc. We have seen little development in his game since his rookie season, it's time to bring in legitimate coaching help for our QB:

-Hire a veteran QB coach who has a track record of developing young QB's.
-Sign or trade for a legitimate #2 veteran QB.
-Replace Scott Linehan as the team's OC

If you just get the technique stuff like mechanics and footwork then Dak can be a good QB
I don’t think he’s ever going to be elite but few are and finding one of them is as much luck as skill

I'd love to get Fitzpatrick here next year on a one year deal. I think he would be a good mentor. Been in the league a long time and had some success. He could also step in a game or 2 if Dak had injury issues. PS. Linehan needs to go.

Dak just needs more game speed hardening upon his reads and pressure reflexes...

Let's be realistic here.....in every facet of the football roster we have improved tremendously...sooner or later DAK will feel the pressure to improve. Defense is playing outstanding, the running game is top notch, and the receiving corps has developed well....what about Qback?? I say it has regressed he is in his last contract year it would benefit DAK to play lights out from here on out. His 2 fumbles could of cost the Cowboys the game Thursday. Barnone this kid needs some leadership like the OP says anyone that says otherwise just has blinders on and refuses to acknowledge the inevitable this kids in cruise control and it's going to cost him.

Hey NY Cowboy. I think your guy Eli's play has fallen more... too old, feet of clay, afraid the old bones are brittle and may break. Still hoping your management believes hiring a new QB coach for him will be the answer for the next 3 years while Dak improves and Eli continues to regress. Just my thoughts

Why doesn't he work on them in the offseason? Stop with all these enabler viewpoints. He's had the same problems from day one and hasn't improved. When is the onus on him to get better at his craft?

Prescott is the ultimate "If Only" quarterback. If only Dak had this, if only Dak had that, he'd be perfect!

Prescott is the quintessential coach killer, he flashes just enough to make you believe. In the end, you're always left wanting more.

I have to disagree. Defenses played Dak differently starting his 2nd year and he wasn't able to make the throws to the outside.

I will say I'm seeing improvement from Dak. Still inconsistent, but he is making the throws outside the numbers that defenses are daring him to make.

If his anticipation gets better everyone will be happy to extend him.

Better offensive line play, or get our starters back.

I do think it’s absolutely idiotic that the coaches have not surrounded him with a veteran mentor.

He had Romo and Sanchez his rookie season.

He has had Kellen Moore, Cooper rush and mike White since.

Having veterans around him could only help. Ya foolish we have had no veteran presence behind him as he is developing.

Hire a HC with balls enough to over ride his OCs play calling when he needs too. Also, Garrett being a former QB, he should be coaching Dak personally. If he is, he is doing a poor job. I never see Garrett talking to Dak on the sidelines, he's too busy clapping.

If we would of lost against the saints Dak would be getting killed in here. Dak needs a lot of coaching and much better playcalls. I dont k ow why we dont use the inside of the field more with crossing routes, slants, ins etc..

We have bad schematic coaches..good people coaches but xs and os they are not good.

I have to agree and I am a big dak supporter. I think troy said it best. His anticipation is his biggest issue. But how can you expect Kellen Moore to teach Dak anything? I mean. Dak beat him out for the starting job lol.

I think the point he's making is that Dak no longer has good instruction to help him improve, nor good play calling to take advantage of the skills he does possess and cover for the ones he doesn't possess.

Look at Tiger Woods. He was the best player on the planet, but even he had a swing coach who helped him work on improving, constantly. In fact, he had Butch Harmon for years as his swing coach, but felt he needed to change to a coach with a different approach, so he hired Hank Haney for 6 years, then Sean Foley for 4 years, and then Chris Como. All of them (with the possible exception of Foley) helped him in different aspects of his game. Dak could possibly benefit from the right coach.

Quarterbacks are either elite or they're not. Dak ain't.

They get there with experience. Coaching is interchangeable for the truly good ones.

This bum needs a miracle GL with the coaching dream....

Kellen: Dak you need to...
Dak: Shut up kid, I replaced you...

Or something like that...

Name one quarterback coach who was a great quarterback.
..yeah, it never works like that. Just need a QB coach who is well rounded and understands basic fundamentals. At times you see Dak not even paying attention to what Moore is saying. I cant blame him.
