Excellent decision to take off and pick up the 1st down in the Red Zone, but he already had the 1st by 3 yards. There is zero reason to take the hit at that point. The extra 2 yards aren’t worth the chance of losing the starter for the year.

No matter what one thinks of Eli, he was an iron man because he didn’t take unnecessary hits.
I have been wanting him to take off when pressured and he finally does but I wanted him to slide down. He also ran about 10 run plays that were option keepers for him. He needs to keep a few of those. There is nobody there and it’s easy yardage. But not if he isn’t going to slide.

Dak was thinking touchdown and instead got clocked. He is lucky he was not injured. He is getting too old to be taking hits like that imo. I agree with some of the other posters that he should utilize the slide more often.

We’ve got people literally complaining about individual plays bc there is nothing else to complain about
It doesnt occur to you this isnt about "just one play"?
I think most of us are in agreement dak has to use his legs. He also has to be very smart about it. Not just about the one play but philosopy of running while trying to avoid the hits.

You 2 sound like you are making excuses. Are you saying MM intended to kick all those FG's?

The 2007 NE Patriots were notorious for running up the score on opponents and never taking their foot off the throat of their opponents. That's what I want to see. But Dak isn't Brady and never will be, so we'll be settling for way too many FG's this year, whether a TD is needed or not. No trust in Dak? You settle for the FG's
Pats averaged 36.8 points per game…Cowboys right now average 35 lol.

Jets have a great defense. They played it safe. Why should they score 50 to beat Zack Wilson? Make it make sense….

Did this single play require a thread?

Don’t think so.
NOPE LOL that's a very odd thread just to say he needs to go down I thought people here wanted him to run more the man wanted to slide he would have slid maybe he wanted to get a touchdown... They always have to find something to gripe about..

If that play happened at midfield I think he would have. On that play, he was trying to score. Which, I can’t blame him for that but philosophically I agree with you.

People around here have the memories of fruitflies. The Cowboys were the best red zone team in the league last year and have generally been good under Dak. Two games where the game is completely under control and they play conservatively in the red zone and people decide that’s the way it’s always going to be.

Not griping or complaining - just an observation on the risk/reward. And, as another poster said, about a mindset. He had the 1st down with significant margin and had no chance at the TD. He got hit by 2 Jets at the 7.

What do fans always say about running QBs? They won’t last because of the hits.

I'm saying stop telling a professional football player like Prescott who's already been in the league long enough he's been injured he understands he did what he did and the action and the heat of the game and it happens.. So again this was unnecessary no need for the post at all you could have just put it under another thread talking about the game or talking about Prescott you could have added it in there it did not need to be a beacon here.. And sometimes getting into the flow of a game a player will do this and sometimes they wanna take a hit get themselves pumped up get themselves in the flow of the game it happens he's a football player he did a football thing he got physical.. I believe Prescott understands when he shouldn't shouldn't be doing these things so again it was unnecessary it is gripping it is complaining it it didn't need its own private thread

You can get fired up in a game and just go for it. I really doubt Dak was thinking about it that much; he saw the end zone and wanted it.

But overall yeah slide and protect yourself after you get the first down. Anyone wanting to see a QB show how tough he is wants to see that QB injured.

You like to tell everyone what to think and do all the time so this is really hypocritical

Fact!
I cringed when he took that hit.
Totally unnecessary.
He does it need to prove he is tough to anyone.

I love the attitude but he doesn't take precautions, the runs almost always end in a big collision or him being slammed to the turf on his shoulder.
