First time reviewing.........My goodness, this kid is practically playing for free. If we don't take financial advantage this, especially with Romos' additional cap money, then shame on up.

For those curious, see list of Cowboys 2020 free agent ( same year Dak) below.......

Dak Prescott signed a 4 year, $2,723,393 contract with the Dallas Cowboys, including a $383,393 signing bonus, $383,393 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $680,848. In 2017, Prescott will earn a base salary of $540,000, while carrying a cap hit of $635,848 and a dead cap value of $287,545.

He’ll get a big deal by the end of the contract. He’s 20-9 so far in his career. Once zeke is back he’ll only get better driving the bus. We had momentum going when zeke was suspended 5-3 and big games ahead but the cards haven’t been dealt our way

We had essentially one more season after this year to take advantage of it.

After next season, he can negotiate which means he can hold out.

Dak doesn’t seem like the kind of guy that will hold out but when you’re being paid a fraction of your worth, you could make that decision.

He knows Jerry will come up with the coin. that is one thing that players know- Jerry Jones will pay you.

Excellent point! My guess......FO will offer a mid-range deal 2019. But if he put together a 2018 season similar to 2016, you can throw that out the window.

It just seems odd how other teams can spend in free agency and we either don't or never have enough money. Now we have a young QB playing at a relatively high level making pennies and we can't take advantage?

Bryant and Collins are UFA. Bye-bye.

Draft their replacements. Get some mid-level FA's to fill the gap. 7.7 mil for Collins?

Good stuff, thanks for posting and sharing with the rest of the board.

We should offer Dez a lowered/restructured contract close to the June 1st cut date. If he balks, cut him on May 31st
after all the FA money dries up. Stephen might have to play a little hard ball.

50% of the League are on rookie deals and make 2m for their first 4 years

50% of the team makes 10% of the salary cap......... bottom 26 guys make 17-19m

QBs average 10% of the cap

I would offer Dak 4/60m after 2018...... the earliest you can extend him..... I would guarantee the whole 60m... just to see if he has the stones to turn down 60m guaranteed after watching ARod, Wentz, DWatson etc getting hurt

The Cowboys have plenty of room if they need it. They design their contracts so that they can restructure over and over. It kicks the can down the road, but with the cap expanding every year, it makes sense to do it that way.

Good question......add let's say $25-30M signing bonus may be hard to turn down. But remember if he waits one more year, he either gets paid or tagged. That could $25m by 2020.......so he could make practically the same amount with two tags vs your 4-year scenario.

That's nice a sweet but where's the extra dividend ..........lol
