I know because he said it. The Cowboys Front Office said it.

"I don't know if any team in the league necessarily needs a No. 1 receiver," Prescott said via Pro Football Talk. "It's about getting the ball out, spreading the ball around, keeping the defense on its toes."

Executive vice president of personnel Stephen Jones says club officials talked extensively before selecting Vander Esch about how comfortable they were with the additions of receivers Allen Hurns and Deonte Thompson in free agency.

Jones says the Cowboys "believe there's some receivers, one through seven, that have some unique traits." The final four rounds of the draft are Saturday.

“I just think he’s working on his game. I think he’s worked on his accuracy. I think he’s gotta trust the system, which I think at times last year there was pressure with Dez in his ear, to some degree Jason in his ear, great players want balls. I think if he can get back to what we did the year before where we run the football consistently with Zeke and that great offensive line we have and let him really trust the system, work through his reads, which I think he’ll do, then I think — not that he didn’t play good last year — but I think he’ll have the type of year he had before, if not better.”

Same dumb front office that said when you have a QB like Romo you don't need a good Offensive line. Now Romo is out of the league mostly because he couldn't stay healthy his last 2-3 years, yet you have multiple QB's around his same age and older still playing at a very high level.

There you go! Keeping em honest, Bro. Dallas Cowboys say the darndest things. Lucky for Stephen he can't be fired.

Seems like Dak played better w/ Dez and Witten pressuring him.

Lmao I cant believe there were people actually defending the trash we have at the receiver position, "The defense not gonna know who to cover doe" lmao.
And who could forget all the praise Sanja Lal got in the offseason. "He a route guru doe", "He's making them carry bricks doe" hahaha

I don’t know that you need an elite receiver if you have an elite QB, 3 good ones and a good run game and TE
I think if anyone needs an elite receiver it’s a QB who is slow to make his reads and not real accurate

My eyes tell me they aren’t elite players but one of them is open on most plays
Thats a good thing only if the QB finds the one open and can hit him

That's an issue. People confuse what a #1WR is. A #1 WR is one that warrants extra attention from a defense based on their own ability, one that can't be left on single coverage. An Elite WR is just the upper tier of #1 WRs. Some teams that #1 threat is a TE, like in Philly, Carolina or Pats. A team needs to have at least one WR/TE that warrants the extra attention based on their own ability, while a team doesn't need an elite WR or TE to succeed it doesn't hurt either.

Jerrah sold false hope once again and some fell for it hook, line and sinker. Those that questioned the madness were often called bashers and trolls.

A lot more fell for it than are going to admit to it now. This would be a great place to recruit for a cult, people will fall for anything regardless of how ridiculous that it sounds.

How about reviving some of the old threads from this off season and see how many posters were all behind and supported this decision.
I supported letting dez go. It was the right decision as the rest of the NFL also has no use for him.

The error is not having anyone who even qualifies on a good offense as even a #2 wr and having no TE presence.

I supported letting Dez go as well, as he was a waste with Prescott. That being said he hasn't signed on because the Cowboys did a hit job on him. First they let him go very late in free agency and then the back and forth and negative remarks they've made about him. Can't remember the last time I saw a team do something like this to a player, especially one with some a history with the organization.
