His skillset is a mismatch.

He's got the communication skills of a head coach, but his prowess is a better fit for a QB coach.

I think what he excelled at was weekly organization and messaging, even at the HC level.

But he wasn't a good game manager, staff cultivator/delegator, and only an 'okay' x's and o's guy.

Like you implied, he's where he should be now

Agreed. I enjoy watching Jason Garrett on NBC NFL Game Night. He does a pretty good job. Plus, I'm sure he is getting paid very well to give his 2 cents on Sunday nights.

I never forgave him for icing our own kicker and losing the game. That was pure stupidity and he had been around football long enough to know better.

Jason *interviewed* Dak about how Dak perfected his throwing mechanics.
Dak didn't perfect his throwing mechanics "with Jason Garrett", which is how I had originally read the title.

Because of my initial read, I was primed to hear just what Dak had to say about how Jason helped him perfect his throwing motion. Because I didn't expect there was much. But unless I'm mistaken, I didn't hear Dak refer to Garrett having *any* influence in the development of his throwing motion.

He didn't even throw Jason a tiny token bone. Just not mentioned.

Jason keeps asking, keeps leading Dak more and more directly to his development as a pro, but Dak didn't mention any other Cowboy personnel helping him either.
Garrett was his head coach for 4 years, a former QB coach and OC Coordinator. But nada.

I thought it was a humiliating scene for Garret.

Garrett had his better points, but seemed to hold himself back to. He was good with structure, but actual game management was not his strong point

That was very informative and validated a lot of the observations of Prescott's performance. Especially in the pressure cooker situations.

Zero real coaching of throwing mechanics until year 3 in the NFL?! That explains a lot.

Coach of the year 2016 even though he never had a QB picked in the first 3 rounds his whole career. Had a couple good seasons 13-3, 12-4. Should get more credit for QB development. Biggest mistake was letting a rookie QB start a playoff game. Probably not his decision though. Teams played hard for him at least. Unlike coach cupcake who's D quit on him.

You could say that. Grant won by using superior numbers. Johnson built his team by having a large quantity of picks in successive drafts.
