Dak Prescott is the 4th highest paid athlete in the world

Prescott has proven that he's nothing more than an over hyped, overpaid, less than mediocre QB in the NFL...........................

Two quick questions...

We all know Dak isn't elite, let's get that out the way.

1. How does a "less than quarterback place himself in the top 10 perrinially his whole career, become an All-Pro and MVP?

2. Surely Dak couldn't be the first les than mediocre quarterback to have done those things I've listed above, so please give us the names of the other less than mediocre quarterbacks who have been top 10 their whole career, became an All-Pro and MVP candidate.....

Based on salary + endorsements. He makes more than enough endorsement money but he still insisted on being the highest paid player in the NFL. Brock Purdy just agreed to a deal which pays him & million per year less than Dak. Unlike Dan he has been to the Super Bowl. he also drafted and outplayed Dan in the playoffs.

He deserves every penny of it. I can't wait until he gets extended again, I mean he has a baby to support and them damn diapers are expensive! Plus his girl always gets crap stolen out of her car, got to buy new stuff when that happens.

So for Dak, (a 4th round pick) it's not a team game.... but for other (both 1st round picks) quarterbacks, they would be better if they had more weapons on their team.

I want to tell me if you see hypocrisy in your statement, or is it just me.
No hypocrisy. These two QBs that I mentioned are just as good as Dak at a 3rd of the cost. Dak needs players around him to succeed. He is getting Maholmes money although he belongs in the same tier as Justin Fields and Mayfield.

To be fair, this is the Forbes ranking and it’s a little misleading. It you go to the original article by Forbes, they explain the quirk in the Dak comments.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/brettknight/2025/05/15/the-worlds-10-highest-paid-athletes-2025/

Forbes calculates using May to May. Because Dak restructured in March, he basically had 2 salaries counted in 1 year.

For their calculations they count on-field and off-field (endorsements). For on-field, his income was $127M. For off-field, it was $10M.

Still overpaid IMO but I wanted to provide some context.
Pretty sure Jordan is still making $300M a year, with most of it still coming from Nike.

Or is he no longer considered an athlete?

:lmao: There is a pay scale in Kartels. Any players on a white house staff?

Name one quarterback who has won anything of significance without players around them?

Next.... Dak has been a perennial top 10 quarterback his whole career, Dak has become an All-Pro and MVP candidate.

How many years have Fields or Mayfield been a top 10 quarterback, and when have either became an All-Pro and MVP candidate???

Last I checked, they haven't.... so to compare quarterbacks that haven't done what another quarterback has actually done kinda make your argument look fraudulent.

Quite a few soccer players and Formula 1 drivers who should be on the list. You wonder how accurate it is.

He could be No1 in every category, but if he fails every time he's asked to step up in the 4th Q of a clutch game there's no point in persisting.
Lets hope, with the new: HC, play-calling, Interior O-Line, WR2, and variety of running options he'll be able to overcome the late game anxieties/composure/game management issues.....if he does, then there's NO EXCUSE not to go All-In. At the moment he's got to play up to manage/play up to his contract.
In a way he's got a pressure free season....Play-off expectations are low, our Defense is getting us to 12-5, lets see Dak prove himself.

As a devout capitalist i love it....as a Cowboys fan that accepts salary cap, not so much

Fields has barely been a starting caliber NFL QB, but Mayfield is probably a fair comp for Dak.

Dak - 9 seasons, 2 MVP voting, 1 ROY, 1 CPOY, 3 PB, 1 AP, 1 OPOY
Mayfield - 7 seasons, 1 MVP voting, 1 ROY, 1CPOY, 2PB, 1 OPOY

To this point Baker is two years younger and just a good year away from matching Dak on individual achievements.

..welp, another Dak bashing thread. I dare anyone to say something positive.
Dak never gives up, even when he's struggling, and when the team is struggling. I'll give him that. He's a warrior. It's not his fault he was signed to a contract far above his ability. That's on Jerry.

Mayfield is a pretty good quarterback, no doubt, but shouldn't he be? Both quarterbacks were selected in the 1st round, so they should both be damn good quarterbacks by now. Their drafting position says that's the case.

However, Dak was drafted in the 4th round and in most cases 4th round quarterbacks don't do or are expected to do what Dak has been able to do WITH his team. When you're drafted in the 1st round like Mayfield and Fields were, you were expected to be THE franchise quarterback.

Speaking of Fields.... for someone to compare a quarterback who hasn't started most of his career to a quarterback in Prescott who has been a top 10 quarterback, has become an All-Pro and MVP candidate is seriously dumb.

As a matter of fact, to put Fields name in the same sentence as Mayfield, is equally dumb. Mayfield is right there with Dak though.

This is a great post, but I have yet for the people who said that Dak is "less than mediocre" explain to me how a less than mediocre quarterbacks remain top 10 their whole careers, become All Pro and MVP candidates.

What other less than mediocre quarterbacks have done these things before? What are their names?

Most of use don't care about awards or acolades, it doesnt really matter in which position a QB ranks (against peers or historical figures).

As the argument has been made, many mediocre QB's (much less talented than Dak) have won rings, but with his CAP hit we need more from him, when leadership is needed.

..yes, we've seen that. Its just a shame when it counted in big games, the defense's decide not to show up.

He's need to work on dealing with pressure better, I'll agree to that. As for the money situation. It is what it is.

Qb's dont grow on any tree's. You saw what happened when Rush took over last year. It was night n day.

At least with Dak we get the chance to play ball and take few swings.

I seriously don't understand why some care so much about how much an athlete is paid. They are all overpaid. The market and their bosses set the prices and choose whether to pay them.

It isn't like our front office is or would be doing something special with the money if it wasn't giving it to Prescott. We've had years with lower-paid QBs and years with higher-paid QBs and they've all ended the same.

I just don't see the necessity of fretting or complaining about it. Some of you act like he's taking it out of your pockets. He got what the ownership allowed him to get and it didn't make our free agent strategy any different than it was before we drafted him. That strategy was established in 2012 when the Joneses decided that paying big money to outside free agents didn't pay off. For that matter, the Joneses' strategy before adopting that strategy also did not pay off. That shows who should be the target of any ire.
