Dak Prescott quickly learning to lean on Cole Beasley

** I don’t really wonder if Cole Beasley will be able to keep up his current pace but I do wonder what he will finish with this season. In two games, he has 13 catches for 140 yards, which translates to 104 catches for 1,120 yards. That would be an incredible season for a slot receiver. I just can’t see that type of season. But I do believe he will post career highs in catches and yards. He had a career-high 52 catches last season and his yardage total has increased in each of his first four seasons as has his touchdown total. Prescott deserves a lot of credit for a lot of things but he has quickly learned how to find Beasley underneath in soft spots of defenses.

** I wonder if we have seen a changing of the guard at middle linebacker withJustin Durant replacing Anthony Hitchens. Durant was on the field in critical situations against Washington and made a huge fourth-down stop with a pass breakup. Hitchens gave up a touchdown in the opener (although there was supposed to be safety help), a long catch down the seam to Jordan Reed in Week 2 as well as a roughing the passer penalty. Durant is a steady player but has not been able to stay healthy in his career. While he might move into the starting lineup, the Cowboys will need Hitchens later in the season if history is to repeat itself.

The only reason I could see Beasley's numbers drop off is if Romo throws to him less often than Dak is throwing to him once he gets back. Otherwise, Beas will do what he's doing all season. He's open on just about every play.

This might sound crazy, but.....

Dak is tall. He can actually see the little fart running around, and Beasley is impossible to cover. He likes that option.

Weeden and Cassel were too busy looking at the pass rush.

Did anyone notice, as I have not seen this mentioned. But they actually used a bunch formation a few times, and it worked.
I am not sure I seen this before.

I like Beasley, he does remind you of a Amendola/Welker type. The only knock on him is that he is about 15-20 lbs lighter than those guys and therefore doesn't take much to get him on the turf.

Durant is serviceable. Hitchens is not the type of player who should ever start for a good team, unless there's an injury.

Hitchens has to be the worst starting LB in the league. There is literally nothing there physically or instinctually.

Beasley...dude ran the smoothest route i've seen from a Dallas WR probably since Terry Glenn. Ran a fake out, sold it beautifully and cut it back in forcing Breeland to grab him...or else it's a walk-in TD.

I love how they're using Beasley. I also loved how they moved Dez right beside the inside of Beasley. The next step is to promote Butler for TWill.

I actually wonder if Cole is being used differently, or that Dak (being a rookie) is more willing to lean on the slot guy than Romo is.

Yeah, I think I saw them diagraming it on one of the NFLN shows Sunday night.or yesterday. Might have been Mooch.

I keep waiting for Dak/Beasley to bust the defense with a long TD. They are totally setting them up with all the underneath stuff....sooner or later Beasley's going to take the top off!!

Dak's found himself quite a career-booster in Beasley -- much like Romo did with Witten.

At the rate they're going, the two might eventually win themselves a spot in the Pro Bowl.
