Dak Prescott's rank on NFL's worst contracts list makes no sense at all

It was a situation where Jerry waited last minute...i'm not sure if Dak was betting against himself but he showed in the past he was willing to. He and Lamb both came off All Pro's. Trying to get them at a bargain at that point was impossible.
As much as I hate that contract, and hate some of the fraternity type of comments, I can't blame Dak for this. I have no doubt he was prepared to bet on himself once again and called Jerry's bluff. After waiting until the last second on yet another extension, and playing with the Trey Lance experiment can I blame Dak for getting every dime he could? From a pure fan standpoint I dont like it, but just as a human being I understand it. I'd play hardball with a front office that hasnt shown confidence in me too.

Oh, I don't blame him either. They didn't have to sign Dak. They chose to. If they wanted to contend, yes, they needed to sign him. But to me, the right move was to start over. Not just Dak but all those vets.....that are gone now. Zack Martin and D Law should've been traded. I would've listened to Micah's offers. I don't know if we would've been a better team, but it was the necessary reaction to what happened in the Packers game. Mike should've been fired. Quinn too. But they were never going to rebuild; they never really have under Jerry, so that was wishful thinking.

When people talk about guys taking less to play here....I just laugh. Why would they? They won't use those savings for free agents to to fix holes so why on earth should a player take less? Because its the Cowboys? A team that hasn't won anything since they've been alive?

Makes perfect sense. The guy with 90,000 posts who posts all day every day is not posting from the basement while the guy with a tenth of those posts who typically posts in the morning has no life and never gets out of the basement.

That's some classic tmc logic right there!

Another Dak contract thread...

What else were the Cowboys supposed to do? Come on.

It's very easy to poke fun at the Dallas Cowboys and quarterback Dak Prescott for having failed to progress in the postseason, but the constant hand-wringing and complaining about his contract doesn't have as much weight behind it as many believe.

The Cowboys are all-in on Prescott, as they agreed to a four-year, $240 million contract with him following his past success. That is the type of contract that is instantly going to make any Cowboys hater green with envy when Prescott doesn't end world hunger or solve one of the Millennium Prize Problems every single week.

They could have said NO and gone with a rookie or vet instead of acting like there was no other QB in history to replace him!

The contract sucked for multiple reasons.

Highest paid, and probably 2nd highest guaranteed after that ridiculous Watson deal.
Still a relatively short term deal, so while voids were added to spread out early cap hits, it forces Dallas to come to negotiate a new deal in 3 years.
Almost every year it locks in the future base. Sure, not the only deal that does it, but just really locks the team in early.
A no trade clause and a no franchise clause either.

The team literally got bent over on everything.

I am a fan of Dak Prescott as both a person and a QB.

But his contract is hot garbage.
Not only is he overpaid but the language is insanely punishing for Dallas to the point it prevents doing anything with Prescott without his approval.

I do NOT blame Dak for this but the Cowboys front office.
They tried to get sweetheart deals by leveraging Dak, forcing his tag year and he just smiled through it and his agent held Dallas out over the side of a very steep drop.

For sure looks like the worst contract in the league. Top paid player in the nfl and played like a top 20 qb. I'm sure he will rebound this year and be top 10 again though. Hopefully.

Yeah, I agree. They should have cleaned serious house after the Packers game. Nobody should have been safe after that game. Not a single person....except our Kicker.

Almost a full day in and still only on page two What is going on? This should be at least on page 12 by now...

It's not a bad contract if Dak can help the team with some playoff success. He still has time to fix this.
He could , but only acquiring a FA like Amari Cooper or Pickens every 7 years is a serious hamstring.

The Steelers do the same crap and their playoffs usually end early like ours.

Yeah I would’ve cleaned it all out. I would’ve been stacked with picks and starting over and maybe we be so bad Jerry steps aside for his health lol.
