Dak Prescott's rank on NFL's worst contracts list makes no sense at all

Would I have given Dak that contract? No

Would I have started over with coaches and Dak after the GB loss? You better believe it

Do I think just because the cowboys gave him that contract that it’s one of the worst ever? No

Despite what many believe and what I believe Dak gives you a chance to win…
who knows what can happen in the playoffs and he can get you there he’s proven it multiple times (from a ownership GM standpoint)

But again me however? Dude would be playing elsewhere I’ve seen his ceiling and it’s 2nd round of the playoffs

Is that a serious question? They screwed up by not extending him at the end of his rookie deal and tagged him. Then they screwed up by tagging him again. Then they screwed up by overpaying him. Then they screwed up by overpaying him again.

The Cowboys couldn't have messed up any more if they had tried. They literally made one mistake on top of another and now own a completely terrible contract. Literally anything would have been better than what they did.
exactly. they handled it wrong at every step.
to make matters worse they use dak as the scape goat for consistent failures in the playoffs.

Dak has been OK as a playoff starter but gets hthis mantle as if he blew it every year.

Prescott has been to the playoffs four times and has never won a Divisional Round game. He's 2-4 as a playoff starter with a 63.3% completion rate, 92.3 passer rating, 1,559 passing yards, 15 total touchdowns and five interceptions. The counting stats line is 4th or 5th best among Active QBs. It is the success he lacks. And that is largely because the defense has been atrocious in the 4 losses.

He is part of the problem but most definitely not the sum of it. The last playoff game the Cowboys gave up 510 yards of offense to a newbie QB.
An insane level of ineptitude.

So you are saying.

He did not have to bet on himself or do a thing. He knew Jerry would cave and be stupid.
Dak won by not betting or playing.

Wish I could win the lotto without buying a ticket.

Dak and his agent played Big and Little Enos for fools.

They sat back and refused to negotiate and watched the market go up and up. All while the player wasn’t at risk of injury during actual games.

Then just before risk of injury would have shifted to the player, they negotiated a deal well above anyone else.

And the player proceeded to play poorly and then get injured. No risk to them of course, they got their money. All negative impact was for team and ownership.

The Joneses were suckered.

Micah’s agent is playing the exact same game with them.

Let’s see if they do the exact same thing.

What else were the Cowboys supposed to do? Come on.

It's very easy to poke fun at the Dallas Cowboys and quarterback Dak Prescott for having failed to progress in the postseason, but the constant hand-wringing and complaining about his contract doesn't have as much weight behind it as many believe.

The Cowboys are all-in on Prescott, as they agreed to a four-year, $240 million contract with him following his past success. That is the type of contract that is instantly going to make any Cowboys hater green with envy when Prescott doesn't end world hunger or solve one of the Millennium Prize Problems every single week.

vs overpay avg talent?
first off, don't overpay. let him ride out the last year and prove he's worth it. give him a better backfield and a chance at it. they paid him then took away his backfield.

kinda a party foul but in the end, i don't think it matters.

dak will NEVER be THE man. it just isn't in him.

i'd have said "prove it, cowboy"
and let him finish his contract.

injury risk on him now cause if he did get hurt, payday history.

They could have signed him earlier at a bigger discount. Instead, they dragged it out. His contract is a boat anchor.

His contract is one of the worst deals in football, no lie detected.
