I think the Cowboys will address this TE question within the 1st 3 rounds in the upcoming draft. I think they'd like one able to catch and block capably.

They appear to want one with the ability to replace what they lost with Jason Witten. I can't say as I blame them for that. He was valuable on offense.

Maybe Ferguson will show out and meet this need?

From the way the FO is acting, they seem intent upon getting one to replace what they had with Witten. That's a tough assignment to match. Something just tells me that they want to make Dak's job especially simplified with two TE's capable of doing well at everything.

Like you suggested, we'll see how things go with what we have in Ferguson. I think they'll likely replace Schultz with a TE adept at both receiving and blocking, maybe one even better than Ferguson. The upcoming season should indicate what to expect. Dak loves his TEs.

Notre Dame has a really good one, with the last name Mayer. He'll be drafted very early and is ideal at both receiving and blocking.
