Dak rises to 3

Mahomes has a 114.5 career rating. Watson is at 102.3. Lamar Jackson is at 100.0. Hell, Gardner Minshew is at 111.8 after his one career start.

The big thing this is telling us is how much of a passing league it has become. There are 10 QB's in the NFL with a passer rating higher than the best career all time (Rodgers). Ratings across seasons are almost meaningless unless you strongly believe Mahomes is far and away the best QB ever to play the game.

Whats interesting is that while Rodgers lead has shrunk a bit over the last few years, it’s still impressive that he is still the leader considering that when he made his first start the average passer rating was 83. When Brady came into the league it was 79. Brady didn’t become a dink and dunk guy until probably after his injury, and his passer ratings were depressed a bit early on.
Honestly, adjusting for time, that guys rating would be abouta 115
Insane

If everything continues then wait till after this week.. We play the fins and could be a stat padding game unless they pull the starters.. but the seahags play the saints and the packers play the broncos..

yesterday Dak passed Brees and Brady in all time passer rating

1 Rodgers 103.1
2 Wilson 100.9
3 Prescott 98.0
4 Brady 97.8
5 Brees 97.7

whatever else can be said ... that's amazing for a guy who just turned 25
Good for Dak, but it's the opposite of "amazing for a guy who just turned 25." Passer rating goes up every year: the leader list favors young guys who didn't play back when the averages were lower and who haven't hit the decline phase of their career yet. Mahomes will vault to the top next year when he hits the minimum number of attempts.

If you look at passer rating since he entered the league, he's 8th among guys with 500+ attempts (Garoppolo and Lamar Jackson are also ahead of him).

Not bad for a guy that "spazzes out in the pocket", according to some here.
He's not merely sitting in a pocket; he's sitting in his own area code.
The time this offensive line is giving him in his own personal area code to, er, dial up a pass play is unbelievable. Granted, he has to make the throws, but let's not act as if the time he's getting isn't a consideration also because last time this year that's all we heard, "He's not getting time to throw."
Interesting how the narrative always changes.
Having said that, good for Dak.

Wilson and Rodgers have played so many games, itd be hard to move their ratings.
But yes for Dak. He could move up a fraction or two with another big day.

Dak has played great this year. Everything is clicking on offense. QBR is superior to passer rating.

That doesn't change the facts of my post.
Wasnt trying to change the facts of your post. Just like your post didn't change the facts of the OP's post.
You offered a negative counterpoint. I offered a positive one that included QBR.

Well put.

Its not a diss to Dak
Just true

Just turning 25 has nothing to do with how amazing that stat is. It's Brady's age that makes his all-time passer rating so amazing. The longer you are in the league, the more chances you get to negatively affect that rating. Let's see Dak sustain that higher rating until he is Brady's age, that would be amazing.

You didn't counter my point though.

Dak is the modern day Chad Pennington in this regard...

I don’t like using the career rating because yes, it is highly skewed to modern players due to how the game has changed.

What i prefer is to compare Dak to his contemporaries.

Since he has been in the league. Top 10 in QB rating and top 5 in QBR. Tops in comebacks.

Dak is very very good young QB. I don’t understand why some can’t see that. But we are in good shape having him.

Everyone on that list has a ring except of Dak. But I'm guessing Dak ends up with more rings than Brees, Wilson, and Rodgers.

You didn't counter my point though.
My counterpoint was to the subject not directly towards your point. You point was a way to spread negative spin on a positive statistical category of our QB. My counterpoint was a positive spin for another stat category in which QB's are ranked and judged.

Anyway.... I get how QB rating isn't a be all end all stat. Win/loss, Game winning drives, come from behind drives, and many more can all be used cumulatively.
Look at each of these and many other categories and you will see that Dak is an excellent QB.

This shows part of the reason I am losing interest in the NFL. Offense has become far too easy.
