He got off to a slow start against the bucs and got hurt. He looked completely out of sync. Then missed 5 or so games and started slow against the Lions in the first quarter and deep into the second quarter. In the second half, he FINALLY looked comfortable for the first time this season. Hopefully, he is now in sync and productive.

The Steelers used to go this with Ben (sit him) and he also looked rusty in his first game or so of the season. He then got in sync and produced.

McCarthy needs to get penalties under control and he needs to play his starters in preseason to get them acclimated to game speed.

This should be a lesson learned for the HC. (Of course not saying excessive minutes in preseason, but a balance).

I agree with this.... but Dak missed preseason last year too and came out on fire until he got hurt in that Patriots game.

I prefer rust over getting a season ending injury in a meaningless preseason game.
Or he is rusty and gets a thumb injury and misses 5 weeks. Injuries are a bit of being unlucky and/or a bit of being out of condition/game speed.

Simply put, Dak has to prepare better and be better prepared.

The HC has to manage this better.

Since there are only three games now, I’d like to see all the starters play the first half of the last game. They can hit the road better to start the season.

Injuries can happen at any time……practice, drills or even working out.

Although I agree with you, I doubt it will happen. It's a trend in the NFL and almost every team didn't play their veteran starters this year.
