Dak starting to throw to the sidelines

I'm not ready to give up on Dak yet because last night I saw several throws in the 10-20 yard range by the sideline when the WR had to focus to keep their feet in bounds. That's the throw that has been missing.

Rookie year defenses protected the outside and played over the top of Dez to prevent the big play. Dak had record setting rookie year with Witten and Beasley being his huge parts of the offense. What changed last year is that teams realized Dak isn't able to attack the outside consistently. Instead of protecting the outside they started to double Witten and or Beasley and protect against slant and in routes from the outside.

We should have been able to make them pay with big plays to the outside but Dak couldn't do it. Instead defenses stymied us and there was talk of Dez, Witten, and Beasley all "declining" at the same time. My mantra this season was that Dak had to start to throw to the outside to open the middle up.

The coaching staff started having Dak throw more go routes to accomplish this at the beginning of the year. But last week in the lose I saw Dak make a throw outside the numbers 10-20 yards. Last night he connected on several. That is real improvement and the key to opening up the offense again.

Dak still misses open WR's and throws were still late last night, but he is showing improvement in areas that will make a difference. We will know Dak has turned the corner when we stop calling screen plays on 3rd and 10+.

He loves going down the sidelines. It's the throws over the middle that are missing.

He loves throwing the go route. Intermediate routes to the outside are what’s missing. Hard to throw over the middle when that is what defenses are taking away from Dak.

Actually, the throws that are missing are:

1. When he needs to go though his progressions
2. And as @Batman1980 pointed out and which is clearly charted, the intermediate, deep middle of the field is what has been mainly missing going back to even his 2016 year.

Again, Dak’s performance last night was a typical ‘good game’ by Dak. He threw well in prevent when the Eagles backed off and rushed three before the half and he had plenty of time. We know he’s a ‘streetball’ QB already.

The fourth quarter was Zeke and the Eagles defense tired of trying to stop him and banged up secondary.

I wish he wouldn't get flushed out of the pocket so easily and not throw off his back leg in the face of pressure. I don't know if he will ever be able to see the entire field, but he needs to improve his mechanics/accuracy.

Just stepping up in the pocket would save yardage.

He has a bad habit of rolling out of the pocket because he’s relying on his athleticism and it backfires all the time.

Wentz took a half hard sack yesterday because he moved up in the pocket. I want to see that from Dak.
