i read somewhere that he had a tryout with the Jets. Not sure of anything progressing or not.

I'm pretty sure any team can prevent another team from poaching a player from the practice squad by promoting him to the active roster.

I think howell was always #2 just based on his regular season experience over Milton's. Two preseason games will never supercede that. So whoever that 1 media personality was, pay more attention to that person.

Also if you look at the stats from the preseason they were pretty comparable. For that day they had three qbs I thought it was a good move to keep both. It’s not like Milton completely outclassed Howell.
 
Hes a crap QB need to churn that 3rd spot amd find someone that can actually play

The point is that to interested observers - the football press, coaches, former players, etc. - Milton's play looked good. Not just in the preseason games, but also in camp as well. Bobby Belt - who defended the Cowboys move and Howell being #2 - kept reporting that Howell was dinking and dunking in practice. Maybe that's what they called for...I don't know. But as you just said, it wasn't the eye test that did it...it was "experience" or other factors. Fair enough, but don't tell me he was outplayed this preseason. Ball don't lie.

However he felt about him, he's not the type to throw his teammates under the bus.

I don't about that I don't why people keep saying Miami they invested quite a bit of money into Malik Willis trade it away Quinn yours then brought back another guy they want a tank II see why they be interested at all they already have guys they can tank with or future guys I think they're confused But hey Miami it doesn't make sense to me people keep saying that they keep popping up i'm telling you they have zero interest..

Maybe the Jets I mean I did look at their situation but Geno Smith is better he's already went through his reclamation project he looked pretty decent in pre-season they want a new Geno Smith project I mean I think they went through enough Geno Smith projects part two he's back They need to probably not put Milton through that milton's best place is where he's at now..

Jets need be worse than Miami you pick the two teams both need a quarterback both are gonna be fighting in the AFC to be the worst team They don't want Milton and Milton shouldn't want them...

I mean once there was number trade offers once he cleared waivers now he had choices and Milton made the right choice...

Milton's best place is on a team like Dallas that in a couple of years he could just stay here and get comfortable and eventually maybe get the backup job next year and then maybe the year after He looks good enough to where the Cowboys are comfortable letting Prescott walk or retire I don't know...

But if he was gonna go to a team he needs to go to one very similar to Dallas not one that's working on a project not an easy I get some starts but on a trash team that's trying to lose and tank no I don't think that's good for him.. That's the way you get stink put on you you hanging around trash you get stink on you he needs to be on a team where he could just have no pressure and work behind the scenes getting better..
 
In April 2025 the NE traded Milton to Dallas for basically a 5th round pick. It is noteworthy that no team was willing to pay anything more than an 5th pick. Milton had been in the league for a year. All the 32 teams had film on him; they knew who he was and what he could do. A lot of teams needed then and need now QB help.

In August 2026 Dallas waives him. No team bites on him. Everyone passes and he lands on the Cowboy PS. No one wanted to give him a shot at being their QB2.

That should tell us all we need to know about Joe Milton and his potential of being a QB1 in the NFL.

he made his own debate even worse. but im not going to keep bringing up every little tid bit, if he thinks hes smarter than the whole league, let him think that.

and you are correct, this is a league without a lot of talent at QB, and depth for QB. if Milton was as good as this board thinks, he would be swooped up quickly

Anyway you slice it. This team is typically a top 10 offensive team more than it is not goes all the way back to Romo as well. It's built for offense and it has built been built for offense. Whether it's stack or Romo doesn't really matter and I'll take that all day. That's a pretty good offense regardless who's that quarterback? But as long as Dak is still here, he's the guy best suited for the job right now
