OK maybe not but I do think the last attempt to get out of this debacle is a playoff team with a starter going down in camp. This is it or Jerry will get nothing for a starting QB or he will pay Dak $55 million per. The choices are grim.
Zero chance they pay him 55M. His agent is going to want them to pay him what he'll get in FA. Which is 60M+. Would he be a good agent if he didn't?

Obviously I can’t prove it, but I firmly believe if the Cowboys had approached Dak back in March before the draft he probably would have agreed to go to a trade to Pitts (before Pitts other moves) or the maybe raiders. It could have worked if they knew what they were doing in planning this. In a trade this off-season, they could have traded Dak for a nice draft pick haul.

As it stands right now, they have cut off their own noses to spite their face. Options now? (a) Just let Dak play out this year, then watch him walk with only a Day 3 compensatory pick in return if Dak chooses to walk (b) overpay him when they could have signed him for less then be stuck with that deal for 4 years and on top of all that (c) they may have to draft a QB next year (in a weak QB year) and start over.

With a FO that doesn’t have a clue how to spot QB talent. They have lucked their way through in the past with an UFA and a 4th rounder but didn’t have a clue how to build around either.

The Vikings drafted a QB in the top 10. He’s injured, but he’ll eventually be back and they have Sam Darnold. The Vikings are committed to going with a young QB, which is why they allowed Cousins to walk. Besides Dak will have his choice of teams in free agency which is why he won’t agree to a trade anywhere.

I don’t get your despair. You haven’t even watched this team play yet.

I have no idea what is going on between Dak's agent and Jerry.

But something struck me when I tuned into this preseason game, which I watched, however when I watched Dak walk into the tunnel he did not smile at the camera, did not look at the camera, he looked up away and had a Mickey Mouse shirt on.

Dak must think, "I'm gong to Disneyland!, when Jerry pays me". Got to find a Ring first.

I guess you still have not figured out the no trade clause.

And how many years are you willing to be a 5 win team? Because they will not draft a QB high enough for it to really matter. Unless they get lucky like the last two
