Dak Top 5. Let's talk argument against it

Who cares? Is there really a correlation between QB lists and winning?

Not really.
Maybe get out a little more often. There's are actual QB win stats.

1. Most Regular Season Wins
Tom Brady holds the all-time record, pulling well ahead of the field. Aaron Rodgers leads all active quarterbacks. [1, 2]

I don’t think Mahomes is better than Alan or Jackson. He’s definitely regressing without that offensive line that he used to have.
I think it's more andy Reid is regressing without all those weapons. Mahomes still has it.

Burrow, Hurts, Lawrence and Stafford. Dak top 10 borderline. Dak just doesnt make plays when we need it. We beat a 0-4 team who has lost all confidence.

Dak has to produce under pressure and so far in his career he has not made the clutch plays.

Dak is good when losing by 2 or more touchdowns or playing a borderline team. Dak needs to get us to the playoffs and win.

How can you be top 5 QB with 2 playoff wins in 11 years

"I'll take things a 15 year girl would say for $500, Alex"

Nobody's "hates" anybody on this team but we're not trying to overhype something a $60 million QB should be able to do to a 16th ranked defense on an 0-3 team.

C'mon Man!
Many on here are incapable of knowing what the difference is

Why can’t we just say that Dak is playing great and giving this team all he has to try and win games. Why does a great performance, a gritty performance, require a ranking every dang week. I love Dak, and I think he’s a great QB. But let the media or coaches or players rank ‘em. I could care less about that, and I’m sure if the team could win a 13-10 game or win a game when he was 12-22 with no TDs, he would be as happy as any player on the team.

Nothing new just happened.

This 2nd half against the Texans shouldn't bring on a manufactured epiphany

Hes still the same quarterback but if you get delirious about a Qb that was shutout the entire 1st half of a game by the 16th ranked defense, have at it, hoss.

Well in the first half, he didn't have a clean pocket most of his drop backs and receivers weren't getting open. In the second half, the line blocked better and gave him time and the receivers started getting open.

Isn't it a coincidence that Dak played better when he has time? I don't know, maybe its just me. But for some reason in the sport of football, quarterbacks play better when their offensive line blocks better.

Its not rocket science.

Sure. But a win is a win.
Come playoff time. They won’t say that win against an0-3 team at the time doesn’t count.

Oh, and what if Houston ends up 12-5. And in the playoffs. Will this still count as a win against a bad team?
I bet some will say yes.

Ummmm what? So you listed career achivements....great. Now show me where these QB ranking lists and winning games actaully crosses paths.

Mahomes is 3-0...but so is Kirk Cousins. The Vikins are 3-0 between Wentz and Murray. The Giants are 3-1 between Dart and Winston. We are labeling Dak a top 5 QB per the OP yet the Cowboys are 2-2. Burrow is 2-2. Hurts is 2-2 Herbert is winless. Last year Dak threw for 4500+ yards and 30TDs and it it resulted in 7 wins for the Cowboys. Meanwhile Sam Darnold just won a super bowl nowhere near the top 5 in anyones rankings.

QBs are extremely overrated....especially in the modern version of the game.

Well said. The rankings are extremely dumb and meaningless. Having the best QB of all time is fantastic....but only if you have a good team to go with them.

Easy......you can be Top 5 with 2 playoff wins when your defense has been bottom 8 for the majority of the QB's career.

You can refer to those back to back SF losses, but for the other years..... Cowboys have had the worst defense in the league about 3 times (2020, 2024, 2025)..... and while they were solid in the regular season in following years: (2016, 2018, and 2023) - in the playoffs they were awful.

Forced the 1 seed run based Cowboys offense to get into a shootout in 2016, and trusting your defense on a last drive when Aaron Rodgers was the opposing Quarterback. Whoever thought Garrett could've made those big time calls should be fired along with Garrett.

In 2018.... defense gave up 300 rushing yards, including two 100 yard rushers, one of them played 4 more lifetime games before being cut for the last time and forced into retirement. The other played one more year for the Rams before also being cut.

In 2023..... defense gave up 5 straight Touchdown drives to Jordan Love. No matter how the QB played.... he was losing that game.... could've lost more in style if he played better, but that kinda defensive effort the final outcome was gonna be the same.

His lack of playoff success has to be attributed greatly to his defense's continued failures.

Hurts, Stafford, and Burrow are also not as good as Dak this year, so Dak slides into the Top 5.

Well in the first half, he didn't have a clean pocket most of his drop backs and receivers weren't getting open. In the second half, the line blocked better and gave him time and the receivers started getting open.

So the first half was a team's fault and the second was Dak. Both can't be true.

Wait what? Each unit works in unison. In the first half the offense didn't perform. In the second half they did. What is hard for you to understand?
