Smart is not a reflection of consumed knowledge.Sure it does.
Aikman and Romo got paid....Romo got paid without any accomplishments. At least Aikman brought three SB visits and three SB victories. Romo?

I'm honestly at the point of this where I would trade Dak for the right price.
QB salaries are out of control and it's ridiculous. Had we not finished the season up with some wins, I'd be all about letting Dak go to another bidder and taking Wilson.
Another one pushing SPECULATED numbers like they are actually real. Sportswriters have written articles and tweeted this 40 mil a year going all the way back to when the franchise tag was offer prior to the 2020 season. There was never anything quoted by anyone that stated that. All we do know is that France never negotiated at any time and just kept demanding the same thing. We also know that on the final hour or so on July 15th Prescott was negotiating for himself and they agreed on 35 mil a year but didn't get the length and guaranteed amount worked out before the deadline came, but still people say that Prescott is demanding 40 mil.
..
How are you proposing we get Wilson? He's going top 5, most likely 2nd. You think we should give up a ton of resources to move up?I'm honestly at the point of this where I would trade Dak for the right price.

I think you can trade his rights.First off he has no contract so not sure how you trade a guy who isn't under contract.
Secondly if they tag him no team is going to trade for him because they know they can wait the year and just get him once he walks. Unless your team is run by Bill O'Brien or Matt Millen no team is going to surrender draft picks when they can simply wait one year.
Their percentage of the salary cap wasn't close to what Dak is asking for.Aikman and Romo got paid....Romo got paid without any accomplishments. At least Aikman brought three SB visits and three SB victories. Romo?
The problem with Dak is he needs too much help to be successful. How does he think the team can provide him the talent if he is that highly paid...
Last year Dallas offered 30M AAV. Dak asked for 40M AAV. They met in middle at 35M AAV then fought over structure, GTD and years.
If the initial ask this year is for less than 45M AVV that is actually a quite good sign.
DAL offered at least their final 35M AVV so you meet in middle at 40M AAV and get the deal done this week.
The "deadline" this year is all on the Cowboys side.
I am a little late to this party, but the key aspect of Mahomes deal is he is locked up until 2032. It was a 10 year extension he was given with a 2021 CAP impact of about $24 million and $31 million in 2022. If Dak is willing to do a long term deal then I would be willing to pay him more than $40 million, but there is no way I pay him that much on a 3 or 4 year deal. Mahomes is not just a little better than Dak, he is way better than Dak and he has 2 SB appearances. Also, the Mahomes deal is full of large roster bonuses. For the next 6 seasons Mahomes' salary is $2.5 million or less and the rest of his compensation is roster bonuses. Mahomes got a $10 million signing bonus and only $63 million in guaranteed money.
We heard the problem Dak had last year was the length of the deal, he wanted 4 years and the Cowboys offered 5. Now Dak is saying he wants what Mahomes got which is a much longer deal than either side proposed. This goes back to what I have been saying that who knows what Dak wants. Now he is changing his tune again which leads me to believe he really does not want a deal in Dallas he wants to hit free agency. You cannot negotiate with a person who really does not want to make an agreement.
Dak is a really good QB, but he may not be really good for the Cowboys.
I think he cares I just think he wants the GM to do his job.And he'd get that on a 10 year deal. A short term deal for that much ruins the team. Idiot Dak doesn't care.
