You can keep dak on the roster and draft a qb. As a matter of fact it would be a good problem to have. Would create some competition. Allows the rookie to sit as well for a year. For dak, yeah he could take it as an insult. But he could also use it to make himself better, maybe play for another contract with another team

Smart move would be draft a replacement, that’s why we won’t do it. We have really lucked out with an UDFA and a 4th round QB pick, Jerry will try that route again, he is a very 2 dimensional thinker. Jerry also must show his big Dak contract was the correct call, so will give Dak every chance to win, even if he can’t.

Also, you can’t leave a high draft pick on his first contract without playing him, or you lose the value the 1st contract provides.

This is exactly what should happen.
But I'm expecting a 3rd contract and with the same or less onfield results as this QB has always had.

It's a gloomy time, the Dak Era.
I hope you’re wrong. Signing him again may do me in after 58 years of being a fan.

I can't see him on the roster beyond the end of next season. He has become very injury prone and it's starting to reach the point where you question how many more hits can he actually take. His mobility looked severely laboured as well. He's done.

Yep, I hear ya brother.
The offense has become so hard to watch unless it's an NFC Least patsy. Well, last year anyway. But now it looks like even this weak division's rivals have all improved so that every game will be a struggle.

There will be $52 million reasons why he won’t be released after next season. We are stuck with the guy. I guess it is time to start drinking during Cowboys games again.

Haha I hear you but if the guy is struggling to get on the field and in his actual play then cut ties. Take the hit and move on. Rookie QB is on peanuts in comparison

Also, if you draft a QB in round 1 and Dak plays decent next year. Somebody will do a trade for him including a restructured deal. There are always QB desperate teams out there.
Exactly...who wouldn't want to trade for #4

True but they could draft his replacement or a young QB for a backup.
If Green Bay could draft Rodgers while having Favre, Dallas can and should do the same thing. Find the future QB

All we can hope for is that we get a high enough pick, and there is a qb that Jerry falls in love with. Then he might pull the trigger

Be prepared.

They are going to restructure him in 2023 kicking more down the road. They need cap relief for next year.
The laziest move is the most obvious for this team.

Yeah I don't get it, its not about how much money he makes. Its about preparing for the future. After this year he has two years left. Even if he's "the guy" going into next year. You can't confidently say he's going to play well. If he plays poorly next year again at that point your screwed. Cause your probably picking mid first again at the very least.

The only hope with dak is getting a coach like Peyton who can get the most out of him.

And then instead of peddling a mediocre brand to untold billions of profits, Jerry will extend another record breaking and un deserved contract to the tune of the team's further spiraling downward.

But it's no big deal because Jerry can sell a poor football product just as well as he has sold this mediocre brand for the last decade or 2.

The more that things change the more they stay the same.
