Dak's interceptions

I would expect his INT% to increase.

On the other hand, I expect his number of TD passes to increase also, along with his number of passing yards.
This.

You can point to dropped INTs last year but he also had at least 5 TDs dropped as well. If we get just one of the two in the first Giants game the whole NY owns him talk would be over.

Yeah as really think that now it is his team and he will indeed be like an Aaron Rodgers.

Prescott came to the Cowboys with great fundamentals and should only improve. He can read a defense and make quick accurate decisions...an element missing since the days of Aikman.

I think that could happen if Dallas forgets how to run the ball but if they continue to run and keep the offense in manageable down and distances situation then I think Dak will continue to take what the defense gives and not force balls.

Agreed, but I think Zeke has a part in this. If Dak is expected to improve his second year, then so is Zeke, and while I don't know how, but I'd think he'd learn to recognize defenses better, would learn how to be more effective on screens, would see blitzes better, all things rookies take time to learn. I just hope the defensive rookies also learn.

 I don't think I'll ever forget that play. Off the hand, down to the heel, kicked right into a defender. It may be the darnedest thing I've ever seen on the field.
Yeah, it was against the Giants right? Classic Cowboys luck.

I'm not even sure what the point of the "back to earth" posts is.

Zeke was the NFL rush leader last year and averaged 5 yards a carry, but you don't see any "back to earth" posts about him.

Quarterback performance is about more than TD's and INT's. I fully expect Dak to be better than last year, whether he throws more interceptions or not.

People are bringing up dropped ints like that doesn't happen to every QB. The fact that you saw the drops doesn't mean Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers and Matt Ryan didn't throw potential interceptions that were dropped either.

I don't know how much we'll involve Elliott in the passing game. I know fans lamented Elliott being taken out on third downs for Dunbar, with good reason, but we're liable to see it again this year with McFadden being the third-down back.

And the reasoning would be why? Zeke blows McChicken away. Maybe a coaching error. That is the only thing I can think of. To spare him reps? That doesnt even make sense.

I think everyone is taking what he did last year for granted, like he will just repeat it. It was pretty remarkable and even a slight sophomore dip will have people on his case.

I fully expect a coming down to earth jolt for him.

Key is how he, and the rest of the team, deal with that and the criticism that will come with it.

Russell Wilson sure didn't have much of a sophomore slump.

Remember when Witten accidentally kick the ball in the air with the back of his heel? What a friggin fluke int for Romo.
Actually, Romo threw that ball behind Witten.

Accurate throw, no INT.

I don't worry about actual interceptions, I worry more about why they happened. Dropped interceptions happen with most any QB. Defensive players don't have the hands that offensive players have and because you're worried about covering your guy and getting after the ball carrier, dropped interceptions will happen because your focus isn't completely on the ball. Also remember that one of the interceptions occured because Dez fell down.

I don't expect a repeat performance because it's just a ridiculously low amount of interceptions, but I don't see why he can't have a similar INT rate

The reason why his INT % was so low is that he threw a very accurate ball. His ball placement on short and intermediate passes was spectacular and quite frankly, better than Romo (and Romo has great ball placement on intermediate passes). Donovan McNabb had a low INT %, but he was inaccurate and kept the INT % low because he usually missed low. Even on completed passes, McNabb's tendency was to misplace the throw low.

The other question with INT's is if they are being thrown due to poor reads. Dak had some issues against the Giants and then in game 1 against the Eagles. However, I could excuse the 1st game against the Giants as it was Dak's first game as a pro. The second game was in horrendous and slippery weather and quite frankly, the entire offense played poorly. The first game against the Eagles I think tells a little more.

One of the big issues with the Giants game in the 2nd go around is that we audibled too much and slowed the pace of the offense down. If you watch All-22 in that game, there were a lot of glaring mistakes made by Dez, Escobar, Beasley and the entire O-Line. Trying to audible against that type of defensive scheme on the road is a recipe for disaster as you're going to get too many plays where at least 1 person is not on the same page.

The good news is in today's NFL we don't see much of the disguising blitzes and coverages like the Giants do. Teams tend to pick up the pace of the offense too quickly and defensive players can get out of position. But, that's exactly the point...don't play into their strength by over-audibling and allow them to do exactly what they want to do...disguise blitzers and coverages.

But with the other teams in the league not using the type of scheme the Giants do, that means a lot of coaches will likely be averse to trying to do something different.

The question is how well does Dak respond to the Giants and Eagles (who are both in our division) and when we face a coach like Belichick who has no issue going away from what he usually does in order to stop the opponent.
