Guys & gals,
I think it is obvious Dak is going to get the $30 million a year contract. I hope the team structures it in a way that they can get out if he under performs. I hope the FO doesn't box themselves in with very large yearly cap number that need to be restructured constantly.
What do we do with Zeke? The truth of the matter is that the RB position is now the most replaceable position in the league. Just look around the league and how much RB's get paid.

There is Gurley, Bell and then who? Here is the link from over the cap
https://overthecap.com/position/running-back/

Gurley- Knee problems. Was replaced by Just a guy off the street. Can't make this up.
Bell- Jet's are already regretting this signing.
David Johnson, -Oft injured
Mckinnon
Freeman-spent more time off the field than on after contract
McCoy-Makes too much money not part of Buffalo's success.
Fournette- Cancer to the JAGS.

Do we want any of these guys? The league has changed and I hope the Cowboys will finally change with it. Zeke as valuable as he is to this offenses's success he will fall off a cliff. I don't want to resign him. I hope Jerry doesn't get emotional and pay a depreciating asset.
So do we think Dak will be ready to carry this offense and rely less on Zeke. If I was the Owner/coach/ o-coordinator. I really better hope that is the case.

I think Dallas will get both guys signed. Zeke and Dak. I don't see it as one or the other.

This is why it was a mistake to draft a fantastic RB at #4 overall. It's a position where you can get quality production later in the top 100 picks of any draft, and position with a short shelf-life, and we did it at a time when we have 3 of 4 starting DBs rolling off contract a season after we made the pick.

Now we have to overpay him for the position and hope he stays elite long enough to make that a good decision.

That is what I'm afraid of. Is it a mistake to sign Zeke to a large contract when paying a RB does not make football sense.
Replacing a RB is so much easier now than it was during Emmit, Barry, Thurman Thomas era..

You can replace him and get a lesser talented RB. I expect and hope he is signed because I believe in getting playmakers signed. Zeke has had no issues with health and is 23 sorry I can't agree with not getting him signed

Thank you. I didn't want to say Drafting Zeke was a mistake even though it was. If you draft a guy in the top 5 you want to give him a second contract. I don't want to give Zeke a 2nd contract as he wont live up to it.

Yes if you draft a player as a 1st you hope to get him signed to a 2nd contract if his play is deserving of it. I think a guy who has lead NFL rushers 2 of his 1st 3 season has lived up to it. He has no injuries that have slowed him down

Don’t over think about the RB position is just a plug and play. It isn’t.
And there is no indication Zeke will be done in 4 years. Which is another BS myth fans think.

I never seen a bigger group of fans than on here wanting to get rid of the teams best player in a few years.
Screw the cap reasons, that all gets worked out. It is a poor reason to dump the nest player.
Dak and QB is the most important as for all teams. It you still don’t get rid of the best guy.

Can you please tell me why you think it's not plug and play? How many great teams care about the RB position as much as we Cowboy fans do?
RB is almost a commodity position. Please don't over react just look around the league.

every position has plug and play players but not all players are of equal talent. If I run a WCO your right my RB position is not going to be as important as it would be for a team who is running a balanced attack style offense. You can undervalue the position all you want that is you choice I don't. When Zeke missed 6 game the other RB did a decent job but not close to what Zeke brought to the offense. Last season he accounted for 2,000 all purpose yards, not just anyone can do that

The patriots won the Super Bowl in part because Sony Michel set the postseason record for rushing yards
Yes it was. Would much rather have Jalen Ramsey & Jordan Howard without a shadow of a doubt.

Jordan Howard who lost his starting job to a 5’8 scat back and just got traded before his prime for a 6th round future pick.

All stats aren’t created equally.

There’s a huge difference between Jordan Howard and zeke. And last year there wasn’t a huge difference between Byron and Jalen.

I would agree if we were talking a contract of 8 years but at his age with no injuries over his career I think he can handle a 4 year deal

No it wasn’t a mistake.

Chris Carson
CJ Anderson
Tevin Coleman
Damien Williams
Austin Ekeler

Very talented RB's are out there. The Patriots have built their whole offense around Just guys at RB.
James White
Burkhead
Sony Michel

Run the ball. Stop the run. Is championship football. Have the Cowboys ever won a Superbowl without having a future HOF at running back?

Sign Dak.
Sign Zeke.

Easy peasy.

I really hope this is a sarcastic post. Just because we have won one way doesn't mean it is the only way, or the best way.

If you have the leading rusher in the league you don't get rid of him, especially at 23 y/o.

Nonsense. OP, Everybody knows what your saying, but each team and player is different...there's only one Zeke Elliott. DAL is a run first team, so when the philosophy changes maybe your idea will be valid for this team...but right now you reaching. "If it ain't broke don't fix it".
