QUARTERBACK

1.) Tony Romo

2.) Brandon Weeden

3.) Dustin Vaughan

RUNNING BACK

4.) Darren McFadden

5.) Joseph Randle

6.) Lance Dunbar

7.) Gus Johnson

8.) Tyler Clutts

WIDE RECEIVER

9.) Dez Bryant

10.) Terrance Williams

11.) Cole Beasley

12.) Devin Street

13.) Lucky Whitehead KR

If Lucky is not named the return guy, then they may go with Porter here, maybe Dunn. I think this spot is really up for grabs depending on if Lucky is named the returner. If he gets the return role, then this spot is his.

TIGHT END

14.) Jason Witten

15.) Gavin Escobar

16.) James Hanna

The reason everyone is talking about why we drafted Geoff Swaim.
I don't think he beats out Hanna.

OFFENSIVE LINE

17.) Tyron Smith, T

18.) Zack Martin, G

19.) Travis Frederick, C

20.) Doug Free, T

21.) Ronald Leary, G

22.) Mackenzy Bernadeau, G

23.) Lael Collins, G

24.) Darrion Weems, T

SPECIAL TEAMS

25.) Dan Bailey, K

26.) Chris Jones, P

27.) L.P. LaDouceur, LS

DEFENSIVE LINE:

28.) Jeremy Mincey, DE

29.) Tyrone Crawford, DT

30.) Greg Hardy, DE - SUSP Ben Gardner DE or T McClain

31.) Randy Gregory, DE

32.) DeMarcus Lawrence, DE

33.) Davon Coleman, DT

34.) Nick Hayden, DT

35.) Ryan Russell, DE

36.) Jack Crawford, DE

37.) Ken Bishop, DT

I think the 37 spot and the fill in for Hardy is basically a spot and 4 games for 3 players.
I think Gardner and McClain are fighting for the 4 game spot and Bishop and Russell are in.

LINEBACKER

38.) Sean Lee

39.) Rolando McClain-PUP Mark Nzeocha

40.) Anthony Hitchens

41.) Jasper Brinkley

42.) Andrew Gachkar

Don't think Gus is making the team
If we did carry an extra back which I don't see happening, he would really need to contribute on special teams to even be active
Overall though pretty close

Gus Johnson won't be here. Too many running backs.

They'll need guys like Danny McCray for special teams. Maybe Nick Harwell if he can play teams. Chaz Green needs a spot, too.

I don't think Nzoacha makes it either
Like his athleticism but very raw and has missed camp
I assume op has green on IR
if not he will make it

I would like to see these threads stay up for a day or two before being merged.

The roster looks good.

Gus Johnson would be inactive and can be retained on the practice squad.

Maybe keep Swaim and put Gus on the practice squad.

Nzeocha seems doubtful. They should just keep him on the PUP.

T. McClain is interesting. His fate probably depends on how much longer he is out with the injury.

Agree with xwalker. Swaim makes the team.

He's a good blocker, and Romo will make him into an occasional receiver, too.

The 12 package (two tight ends) makes it hard for defenses to blitz and disguise coverage, especially when both tight ends are good blockers. Witten and Swaim provide that.

Thanks for posting.
I like the roster with just a few possible exceptions.

I'll mention one...
The market will be flooded with RBs better or on par with Gus, so he seems more like a PS guy, if at all.

Check out Chicago's roster of 6 RBs right now, for example. They will be forced to drop someone better than Gus. Many other teams like that too.

As everyone else has said...get rid of Gus and add a LB/S for special teams purposes. We will have no problem getting Johnson to the PS if the staff really likes him that much. I'm still expecting (praying) for another RB to come into the fold in the next couple of weeks once rosters get slimmed though.

Yeah we can put someone else there but I can't predict that. And that spot may go to another safety or TE for STeams.

Green will take Gus spot, but hes on IR for a while I think.

We need to cut weeden and keep Vaughn and showers. Weeden can't win the games and is stunting growth. We need to see what the youngsters have. Showers will not make the ps squad he will get claimed!

If that happens, you go sign Gus or somebody. Backs like him are dripping off trees.

I have to put him there because he is on the roster currently. But for sure there is a possibility that someone else takes that spot. But I do believe they will carry that many backs until things settle down at that position. Gus has an advantage because he knows the plays and has been in camp though.

I want to sigh a lb like Briggs to fill mcclains void. I wouldn't be suprised if mcclain doesn't even play this year. Also I think we pick up a cut rb over gus.

I don't see anyway swaim makes the team over Hanna or Escobar unless one is traded.

But that's the point. Don't waste the roster spot on another back. If Randle got hurt, you put him on IR and go get another back then. There's just no need to have five running backs unless they are returners or great coverage guys on special teams.

Briggs is painfully slow these days.

And Swaim makes it with the other three because he gives them a different kind of tight end. He can take up some of Witten's blocking chores.

I agree that Swaim is kept over Johnson.

I would think the team evaluates other teams rosters and have input from our scouts at their practices to see who we may be able to pick up. But also I would think their reports can be used on who to keep and who to relaxes for the final 53.

Say we want to put Swaim on the PS.
So possibilities are. Other teams are strong at TE and chance are no team will claim him, so he is released and added to the PS. Or say, 3 teams have a weak TE as their 3rd TE, but usually keep 3. so Dallas keeps Swaim, and releases another player. Then after all rosters are set, players claim, then do they release him and put him on the PS. Then bring back the other player they released. As not to expose him to those teams needing a TE.

lol. But that is a lot of thought but they need to consider this I would think.

Anyway pretty decent roster, very close to what most have.
Though I think a few would have an entire different list at RB, all claimed from teams or trades....

I would tend to agree with you and that spot will depend on health of the other 3. If all 3 are gimpy at the time of cut downs, I think they keep another back on the roster.
