Points per quarter 2018 Dallas rankings:

1st Quarter: 16th
2nd: 28th
3rd: 25th
4th: 5th

I thought this was interesting. I didn't look up Zeke's YPC per quarter or Dak's QBR per quarter but I imagine it's a combination of Zeke having worn out the defense and Dak being a clutch QB who plays best in the 4th.

Here's defense points allowed per quarter ranking for 2018:

1st: 1st
2nd: 8th
3rd: 17th
4th: 26th

I'm not sure here either but I'm guessing the main contributing factors are getting tired out and the fact that the offense isn't scoring enough to make the other team go one dimensional to catch up.

Makes you think, teams just need to keep it close to end up in a 4th quarter shootout with us because that's when our offense catches fire and our defense falls apart. That's been the story of a handful of games this year, as well.

nothing this season has been easy.
it won't be saturday night.
but I just LOVE our D.
they brung us here....they'll set it up for Dak and Co., to seal it.

Would be amazing if we just flat out blow this team out

Call me crazy but I think there's a chance. With our defense overall and their rush defense, Zeke's resume and games like the win against the Saints, the way LA hasn't looked as good late as they did early, the Dallas crowd in LA...

I think Dallas looks like a really good underdog pick on paper right now. Make no mistake though, still the underdog.

"Prevent" 4th quarter defense will do that to you.

This makes sense. Throughout the season, it seems that the Cowboys score on the first drive then go into a funk until they explode in the fourth quarter.

Ok, then what is most of the 4th quarter scoring against us coming from?

If the 4th quarter were caused by prevent, then I'd like to know your thoughts on where the increased scoring in the 2nd and 3rd quarters is coming from.

Let's be real though, they aren't trotting a prevent package out there all 4th quarter.

How many games have we seen the offense score on their first drive and the defense get a turnover soon after? We’ve had many chances to put a team away 21-0 in the first quarter and haven’t quite been able to do it.

If it all comes together this game, I would be in heaven

Part of the results are just due to approach. When we KNOW we have to score or lose, Dak opens up the offense a little bit and the offense tends to score.

The opposite is true of the defense. We tend to go super soft in the 4th quarter trading time for yards. We just go TOO soft on defense.

It's part of our strategy.

It's from defense keeping it tight, defense being clutch and giving us the ball late, Zeke having worn the defense down, and Dak being clutch as well as leading the league in 4th quarter comebacks since he's been the starter for Dallas.

All this tells us is that this why there is so many 4th quarter wins, D keeps it close and the mediocre offense scores just enough hopefully to win, have to see how this formula works this week end.

I like our defense and would love them if we can force some turnovers.
