It has everything to do with winning the division.
Yes if we beat the Giants, then nothing else matters.
Howver if we lose to the Giants, we must finish one game ahead of them.
So a los to the Steeelrs is huge. We are 3 games up. Then if we lose to the Giants we are still 2 games up with 3 to go.
Then we win 2, or the Giants lose 2 we still get the divison.

The key is winning the divison no matter how that comes about.

...

"It does absolutely nothing in REGARDS to clinching the division WITH A WIN NEXT WEEK."

And the rest of the post was about if the Giants win next week and how the Pittsburgh game only matters in regards to that scenario...

We can only clinch if Tampa Bay loses to San Diego or ties them OR Washington loses to Arizona.

Both are heavily in our favor IMO. The Chargers are tough, and Zona in Zona are as well.

The reading comprehension works both ways pal.

All I know is I just listened to "The Talking Cowboys Break" gtom earlier today with Spagnola & Broaddus and they also said we win division with a win next week no matter what....Nate Newton was sayin he actually wants Midgets to win this week so theyre feelin good and we're feelin good and we hopefully beat em at their best.....I dont see it that way but I also wont cry if the Stealers get another L and I think we're beating NY this time no matter what anyway...

I don't see many people talking about this, but it seems like Dallas can clinch the division next weekend regardless of what the Giants do this weekend.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if Dallas beats the Giants next weekend, the worst that can happen is the season standings finish like this:

DAL: 12-4
NYG: 12-4
WSH: 10-5-1
PHI: another year without a Lombardi (yay!)

Tiebreaker 1 is h2h
Tiebreaker 2 is div record
Tiebreaker 3 is common games (not NFC)

1. Obviously a win next week means we split the series; tiebreaker 1 is gone
2. The proposed records above would also mean both teams are 4-2 in the div; tiebreaker 2 is gone.

So tiebreaker 3 would determine the division.

DAL would have to lose to TB in this scenario to get to 12-4, which is an uncommon game. (NY played NO).

Therefore, we would only have 2 common games that are losses while the Giants would have 3. (taking out the h2h for DAL and NY)

Meaning Dallas wins tiebreaker 3

Am I not understanding this correctly? How would that end any other way?
I've already got the Cowboys down for the #1 seed in ink so whatever happens below us doesn't matter.

When the Boys clinch, what are the changes that Tony plays at all down the stretch? They may need him and it would be nice to have him taken some snaps in a live game.....

clinching the division is nothing to worry about.
The giants need to win out, and we need to lose 2 of 4 games and 1 being the ny game for them to win div.
That is very unlikely to happen.

Dallas needs to just keep winning, the giants game is the most important, but I want them to win out !!
That way we get # 1 seed !
They can lose 1 game and still get # 1 seed.
If seattle loses again they could lose 2, but better if they just win out.

Well that will be one of several issues that come with clinching early.

Dak needs to stay tuned up, I would play Dak 1st half, then Romo 2nd half. and it would be predetermined that is
how it would go.
That way Tony gets some action, and hopefully wins the games, and Dak gets to stay warmed up playing 1st half each game.

Same thing for other starters, play 1st half, then 2nd half work some bkups.

You are correct. If Dallas beats New York next week,no matter what the Giants do against the Steelers Sunday, they will win the division, even if they lose their last 3 games.Cowboys would win on the #3 tie breaker common opponents.Cowboys would have 2 common game losses, the Giants 3.I'm sure this will come out after Sunday's games.

We can drop 2 of 4 and still win the #1 at 94% probability. I'd much rather the Giants lose Sunday and we win against them. That does it for them. In fact I'd rather they lose out along with the Skins. I'd rather play Wentz and the Eagles than either of those two in the playoffs.

Honestly, we never make it easy on ourselves. It'll probably come down to a fight at the end of the season.

If we beat the Giants we win the division but not necessarily the #1 seed, Seattle can go 12-3-1 which beats 12-4, and Atlanta can go 12-4 and they would win the tiebreaker vs us. We would clinch at least a #3 seed.

We could lose 2 and beat Seattle also, if we win and lose 2 more we'd be 13-3, the best record they can attain is 12-3-1.

If we go 2-2 no one other than the Giants can catch us by winning out.

If we clinch the #1 seed next week, Dak is going to still play full games until, maybe, the second half of the Eagles game.
Dak is a rookie. He needs all the reps he can get, especially headed into the playoffs.
You don't put him on the shelf for the second half of games.
This is Dak's team now. Garrett and company aren't going to insert Romo into games out of sympathy. No one says that Mark Sanchez should get reps in case we need him in the playoffs.
We shouldn't say it about Romo either.

Not sure about that, Tampa just beat Seattle and Commanders offense is on fire. Both SD and Arizona have losing records. It doesn't really matter we're going to the playoffs regardless, it's like a 1% chance we don't.

How does 12-3-1 beat 12-4? Isn't that tie half a win? That doesn't make any sense to me.
