By this rationale, you can also say that center and guard are need areas for the future. Kosier is the final year of his contract, Gurode is getting up in age and we have very little inside depth to speak of.

Exactly, its not a breakdown of the team comparing the glaring needs, vs future needs, all teams have future needs, and most teams have a glaring need at the least.

Safety is a glaring need right now, because we dont know what M Hamlin will bring to the team, and we know our veteran starters dont do well with forcing turnovers, so that is a glaring need, if you believe defense can change the outcome of the game.

My personal glaring need currently is OT, I dont want my QB killed, or lying on his back for most of the game.

I personally feel you always draft a QB and CB. Yes with a 3-4 defense you always need linebackers, but lets face it, except 1 or 2, even the restricted free agents that you can bring back easily, Bowen, Hatcher and Spears will not command much from other teams, can be brought back if you want to hit the draft like i want to and thats to grab quality over quantity.

WR must also be a need because our best WR is our TE and thats not acceptable. A WR/PR/KR guy is awesome, but if its not there, its not there i fully believe coach D will do just as well this year or better with our ST because he knows the players now, will implement more of what he wants, plus learn what other teams are saying about his unit. I want to really really really believe in the guy.

Putting it in simple terms, forcing turnovers is significantly more important for this team taking the next step towards the Super Bowl than a few more special teams plays.

We could get Devin Hester right now, it would not be as much help in the long run as getting better at making plays and forcing turnovers, specifically interceptions.

I agree, but I am also thinking another CB would still be a more of a need than anything on ST, which i feel can be plugged and done well by Coach D. So i really dont find the PK/KR a real necessity right now, luxury yes, need no. And i would want that safety as a glaring need behind OT because I want this defense to not be on the field as much and get those turn overs and stop these 3rd and longs on defense that kills us.

I would take a starting safety who makes plays over a 3rd or 4th CB who would be fortunate to see the field enough to make an impact.

All I can say about ST is that we get a 4th CB, 4th WR etc. who can also handle special teams, that would be an ideal draft choice.

I do as well, my points were i wanted OT first, so my QB isnt killed, followed by safety, only because in my opinion I dont want Romo on his butt or getting killed every play.

I personally feel we might want that CB because I dont see Newman making another season injury free and I think that should be a concern. We can, as fans hype on Ball all we want, but I think hes reached his potential, much like Watkins and I am all for seeing guys replaced and churning of the roster as much as we can.

My thinking this year is get a couple quality guys that can make an impact and safety has got to be in the mix because we want this defense to make it to the next level and force those turn overs and not be on the field all day.

I wouldn't be surprised if a player like Pouncey is on the radar.
