What we absolutely don't want is Gibbs and Montgomery running all over the field in long time-consuming drives.
This would drain the clock and give Dak and the offense less time and opportunities to respond to any Lions scoring. This is the Lions gameplan, no doubt. They don't have to protect Goff if he is just handing the ball off.
Goff will take his shots to be sure but I think they would like to limit the passing to around 25 to 27 attempts and just try to run the Cowboys defense into the ground.
Gibbs couldreak his career record for carries in a game which is 26.
They'll pepper in about another 8-10 carries for Montgomery.
We need to see the Cowboys stop the run on their very first possession. A very bad sign would be the Lions gaining 7-8 yards on every 1st and ten.
If the Lions score on the first 70-yard drive by passing no more than twice, then brace yourself. it's going to get ugly.
On the other hand, if the Lions are facing 3rd down and over five yards and the Cowboys can stop them even half the time, the offense should be able to do the rest.
