Yesterday aftertoon, somewhere in between hitchhiking north on Highway 17 in order to preserve my consecutive games streak of watching games with my father and the brutality of yesterday's contest it came to me. A fleeting moment of understanding if you will.

I can no longer force myself to undergo the anxieties and emotions that the Cowboys have put me through since I was born. This isn't in the tense of, **** these guys, I'm tired of them putting me through hell. Its an accepting the inevitability that you can't control a thing, and not letting the emotions bring you down. Enjoy the loss, enjoy being able to watch them play, enjoy the moments with the people you love. Today's society already brings enough negative **** into our lives, we don't need to let something we love doing turn into another negative.

I'm not saying to stop caring, I'm saying to stop being so emotional afer one or two games. Hell we sat through 3 5-11 seasons and we made it alright.

Its merely a matter of choice, patiently watching a team that you can't help but love - and understanding why things are going the way they are (Injuries, special teams, penalties, FUNDAMENTALS). You can't allow yourselves to get 'sucked' by ESPN, the media, other fan's opinions - I view the Dallas Cowboys through a lens that no one else could possibly see. Its all relative to the individual.

So stop acting like such girls, it can only get better from here. And if it doesn't, you can't do anything about it. All you can control is whether you cry like girls or discuss things in a rational and intelligent manner. I'm watching this board get filled with impulsive trash posts really reducing the quality of the board. Lost in the muck are fans with well thought out opinions.

Stop making me dig through so many turds for diamonds guys. Think before you post.

Did those teams have 13 pro bowlers on the roster? It's one thing to be simply untalented, and another to get outplayed/outchoached depite the talent on the roster.

They have played this way all season, the fact that they came out with 4 wins simple masked the problem.

Not that much of the stuff on here right now is impulsive, it is a direct result of the play on the field.

Fans being this emotional is ****ing stupid. We've won 5 Super Bowls. We've been through the ups and downs like no one else. Lets stop acting like this is our first time.

We were a very soft 13-3 last year, and haven't played well since week 12 last year. We had the same penalty problems last year, we just got lucky. Stole 2 or 3 games, and we've haven 2 or 3 stolen this year. It balances out. If you would have seen the writing on the wall a while ago you wouldn't be so shocked and ready to fire everyone today.

I wish I could decide there's more to life then football sundays but I haven't gotten there yet. I'll still be following them week in and week out and going through the emotions. Maybe one day i'll get smart and stop but for now I love my cowboys and I'll continue to get abused every week.

It made it through the Gailey/Campo/Chutch/Quincy years by not having any expectations. I still watched every game and cheered them, but I didn't expect success. It seems shocking to not expect this team chock full of talent to achieve more, but if the HC can't motivate his players to beat the worst offense and defense in the league and the players don't want to hold each other accountable, then I won't care either.

Don't even start with the bandwagon blah blah crap. I have always been a diehard fan of this team and always will, but I won't let a bumbling troupe of underacheivers ruin my week.

much easier said than done - in my opinion. Not that it is something that I am even willing to consider doing, because I wont. But I believe once your in - which I am - that you can't go back, even if you want to. It's second nature at this point.

I didn't get emotional about this loss at all. In fact, when the score was 21-7 in favor of the Rams, I knew the contest was over. This team has no heart, and it has already ripped mine out.

I spent the final 3 quarters of the game waxing my forearms instead.

:laugh2:

The Cowboys don't look so good, but my forearms sure look shiny and sexy!

I'll still watch every game, still visit the zone routinely, and read various other outlets information about them.

But I will not continue to get angry and get my hopes up for a team of players that have proven time and time again, that they have no heart and show absolutely no resiliency when times get tough.

Its about expectations, I'm tired of raising them when my instincts tell me otherwise.

I mean come on...

Fire everyone!
Cut someone!
Jimmy would do something!
Hire Steve Spagnuolo!
Call Bill Cowher!
Wade is soft!
Jerry has brought us to this!

None of that is very difficult to type. It doesn't take much thought either. Maybe that's it. Food...good. Water...good. Unhinged rant...good. So easy, a caveman can do it.

I agree with you, especially after last year. As the Die hard fans know we live and breath this team, For me its not the same anymore, not only the beloved Cowboys just the game in itself has changed there trying to make a violent sport into a rough game of flag football. I don't like it at all, The hype the media spins all week, the fantasy football ...the whole thing isn't fun to me, I used to really enjoy it way more now its. got its priority in life I guess I grew up, Just like quote in the movie the longest yard. "Phil when I spoke I spoke as I child when I though I though as a child know as an adult its time to put childish things aside..( something along the lines as that ). If you saw the film you got the message...I should have turned off the TV when the the triplets retired they were my age and the I believe cared as much as I did in winning I just don't feel it from these group of players, I just don't get the kids in there 20's maybe I don't know I'm rambling, and don't know if I'm getting my feelings out right but its just not the same when they lose. I never bought into the hype this year I still want to see them win in the playoffs, but at this point man I think without Romo and this current D. Unless they find themselves and reach down ..there will be no playoffs.well I'm off to my day....;

I'm concerned because I think a lot of the guys, especially defensively - know that they really can't turn it around, they just aren't capable. The names are there, and the word talent is thrown around far too loosely on this team.

Chris Canty, Marcus Spears, Tank Johnson, Kevin Burnett, Bradie James, Anthony Henry, Ken Hamlin, Roy Williams.

Apparently are talented, but I am yet to see any of them elevate their games.

I agree with you. I don't feel nearly the emotion that I did over 10 years ago. I remember during the 90's Super Bowls, my folks would always host Super Bowl parties. I was blessed to see the Cowboys play and win 3 of those big games, but I was glued to my TV in another room while we had company over. I'm sure they heard my screams and cuss words. I couldn't even break away to say hello to them, and I watched the games on a 13" TV instead of a big screen because at least I had the room to myself.

I felt a better connection with that team because I played high school and college sports at the time (not football), and my teams had battled losing seasons to only win it all over time.

When this team takes the field, I don't know what to expect from them. Back in the day, I could trust Troy, Emmitt and Michael. Regardless of the outcome, I knew that those guys were leaders, and they would give us fans 100%. Regardless of who surrounded them, I knew they would not let me down.

As much as I like Tony Romo, I can't trust him like I did Aikman. Ditto for MB3 and TO with regards to Emmitt and Michael.

I think the word we've all danced around is respect.

I respected how hard Troy, Emmitt, Michael, Woody, etc to be the very best. They strived and never let good be good enough, to steal BP's final piece of advise for Tony Romo.

I don't respect how lackidaisical is on this team. Its a hard truth to accept but they don't work hard enough, and they don't want to be great enough. Romo, Barber, Ware, Owens, Witten, Thomas. Knows what it takes to be great, have worked their entire careers to reach that level of excellence.

The 2008 Cowboys lack a sense of urgency, the coach tells them everything will be okay, and they spent all summer going through the motions in front of cameras.

I will say this until it becomes annoying, attitude reflects leadership. The 90s Cowboys played like Jimmy Johnson envisioned them playing. The 2008 Cowboys look, play, and make excuses exactly like Wade Philips.
